What an amazing trip we all had across the pond to England and Scotland! Everything from the guides to the hotels and restaurants were excellent. In our time frame, our travel company made sure that we covered some of the most beautiful and fascinating places as we all learned of the rich and significant history. We were always entertained by the walking tours, scotch tastings and the beautiful drives along the countryside. I cannot say enough great things about this travel company and we would highly recommend using them if you are looking to learn about the UK and have an enjoyable stress free vacation.
Its hard to answer this question since so many things were very enjoyable! I would say that everything from the Castle tours, the guides, the food and the amazing views were all on our list. We all enjoyed learning about the Scotch industry in Speyside and visiting the Cooperage and seeing it all happen right in front of us. It was fascinating!
We need to mention that we all really enjoyed our visit with Beatle guide in Liverpool. We give her 5 stars as one of our most amazing guides! We had a blast on her tour singing old Beatle songs and reminiscing "all things Beatles"! She and Ian were lots of fun and made our trip there to Liverpool a very memorable one! Too bad we missed Sir Paul McCartney by only a week!!
We loved our guide in Bath too, she was just great in drawing us all back into the time of Jane Austen. What an amazing walking tour she provided for us. Our stay at the Crescent Hotel was unmatched by any other and we will always remember the peacefulness of the beautiful gardens where we gathered to have drinks after our tour.
Five stars also goes out to our stay at Inverlochy with all the amazing gardens and grounds and impeccable service to us all. I would highly recommend a stay there to experience a castle used as a hunting lodge that draws you back in time.
If we could do something different it would be to pack warmer clothes and make sure we took less bags. We were unaware of the issue the bags would pose when taking a train. Literally there is very little space to put your bags and so we might rethink how we moved around since it was difficult at best. However, it really was one of our best memories of the trip because we laughed and laughed as we watched the two men in our group try to get the bags to fit in spaces designed for a small carryon!
Another thing we would do differently is to not agree to stay at the hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. The rooms that two of us had were in very bad shape. Small and cramped, very very worn and in bad need of updating. Towels were delivered to us that had holes in them and the robes in the closet were stained. The general appearance of the hotel was a worn out look and was a bit of a disappointment. Our travel company did rectify the situation for us, but we would never stay here again.
