Since we had never before used an in-country travel company to plan a trip to a completely new destination, I can't say that we had expectations to be met. Instead, this agent and his company set the bar - very, very high - for a hands-on travel arranger. From personal visits to the hospital, twice, on the day my wife was admitted to an unfamiliar hospital immediately after our arrival in Buenos Aires, to arranging stays in lodgings that enhanced the experience in each of the five areas we visited, to pairing us with local guides who were passionate about the area in which they lived as well as very knowledgeable about its history and current situation, the services that we received were first-rate. We quickly came to expect prompt responses to our texts and emails, attention to the smallest details and even the unexpected "gift" exactly when it was most appreciated. This was by far the best travel experience my wife or I have ever had, a truly magical adventure! It's possible this agent even arranged the weather: amazingly, over more than two weeks, we had no weather issues until our very last day in Buenos Aires, but after a day of torrential rain (significant enough to cause the postponement of a major soccer match), our international flight departed on time. We whole-heartedly recommend this company!
Most memorable was the assistance that this travel agent provided, in person, while my wife was being treated in a BA hospital. Given my very rusty Spanish and my wife's challenges in switching from English, having a capable, caring translator who also was a resident of the city enabled us to avoid a potentially disastrous detour. We could not have shared her medical history, allergies and concerns without his help, and his assistance made possible her exit from the hospital after a mere 10 hours.
The most enjoyable parts were the special experiences that the travel company arranged for us in each locale: a major soccer match and terrific tango show in BA, an overnight stay and unique treks at a remote former sheep ranch in southern Patagonia, kayaking and a forest hike in a light drizzle on and around a beautiful lake in northern Patagonia, a private cooking class with a very talented -- and patient - chef in the wine country and a boat ride under the torrents at Iguazu Falls. Each of these adventures worked like clockwork, and the logistics in getting to and from each one was seamless.
The only thing we would do differently is to arrange for a few opportunities to interact with wildlife in a few of the locales that we visited. Otherwise, we'd take the same trip any time!!
