Our travel company was fantastic. Our trip designer was extremely cooperative and very creative during the planning of our trip including our travel from the States to Peru. She patiently adjusted and readjusted our itinerary as we changed our minds on some additional travel. She was the only agent who recommended getting to the highest elevation gradually, saving a stay in Cusco to the last, after Machu Picchu.
The lists of tips and instructions were more than helpful. They were invaluable.
Our trip designer arranged for fabulous guides and drivers who made our trip most comfortable. We enjoyed articulate, well informed guides and patient and safe drivers. Our guide in Lima was open, warm and quite communicative. The selection of sites was nicely varied and in addition to enjoying them we learned a lot about the history of the area. Our guide from Ollantaytambo through the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco was in a class by himself, brilliantly well informed, attentive and loving, generous and fun. During climbs and rocky walkways he always safely held my (Lynn's) hand.
At a few of the high elevation view points in Machu Picchu and the Cusco ruins, our guide had us hold hands and close our eyes while he recited a prayer and a poem, so deeply inspirational. We still feel the calm and love and connection to the mountains that he inspired.
Just being in those ancient ruins set in the magnificent mountains was a spiritual experience that was breathtaking.
We very much loved learning about the awesome ingenuity and accomplishments of the ancient Inca , so very impressive!
We especially remember the great local market our guide took us to in Cusco, where we had homemade chicken soup at a counter with all the locals.
We especially enjoyed a spontaneous dinner with our guide and driver in Lima at a special restaurant by the sea.
Dale was able to have a personal and memorable discussion with our teacher turned driver, because Dale is fluent in Spanish. It's so good to get to know someone better when a language barrier is erased.
One day in a local park with our guide (don't remember exactly where) we just sat and fed the pigeons kernels of corn from the roasted corn on sticks we had bought. More and more pigeons kept joining the party.
The hotel owner and entire staff at the hotel in Ollantaytambo were exceptionally helpful and friendly, We felt a little chilly so the lovely young woman in charge poured alcohol into a contraption, lit a fire, and we enjoyed the glow and the heat in our room.
The entire trip was enjoyable and memorable.
We are hoping to send our daughter on a trip to Peru only if the same personnel and the same plans can be made, so we will be contacting this trip designer about that.
