These agents were incredible travel planners, hosts and guides! They definitely planned the right trip for us. We cannot say enough positive things about them. Our travel planner listened to all our travel goals and desires, made great suggestions, organized a smooth running, fun and exciting trip. There is so much to see and do in Peru and we hit the highlights we were looking for. Our travel agency gave us excellent packing recommendations, answered the multitude of questions I asked, selected the perfect guides for the various portions of our travels (including themselves around Cusco and Pisac, and bicycling to Moray/Mares). We were always completely comfortable exploring, never needing to be concerned about any details. We have a special interest in wildlife, local flora and fauna, and our travel planner made certain we had the best opportunities to see and learn as much as we could along the way. They made special arrangements for our guide on the Inca Trail to be a naturalist. We stayed at a research center in the Amazon which provided fantastic opportunities to spot wildlife, day and night. We stayed primarily at more eco-friendly hotels. Our travel company also arranged accommodation for my daughter's vegetarian lifestyle throughout all our travels and even had a surprise Happy Birthday serenade for me in the Amazon. Being local, our travel planners recommended fantastic eating options in Cusco when we were on our own. As our tour guides through the first days of our journey, they were relaxed, totally conversational, interesting and fun. I feel we made some very good friends. We highly recommend this company!!
My favorite part of this trip was exploring and experiencing new things with my daughter. Meeting our travel planners and traveling around Cusco area with them was definitely a lot of fun. The journey along the Inca Trail was breathtaking (literally and figuratively) and our trekking team and guide were great at providing support and encouragement, while also making it fun and a learning experience. Successfully crossing Dead Woman's Pass and making it down those "3000" steps were personal accomplishments for us both. The Amazon basin had its own rewards. Our guides were excellent spotters. We watched and heard howler monkeys in a turf battle of sounds, saw the clay licks full of birds, and spotted a jaguar on our boat ride home. So many other birds, mammals and creatures along the way!
I would not have packed any of the extras I carried along "just in case". Our travel agents gave us excellent packing instructions. All we needed was contained on their lists. Everything was as anticipated for us and I really do not think I would change a thing. I think my advice to other travelers would be to know what you are getting into, both in the Andes and in the Amazon rain forest. We love being active and outdoors, so do not mind being wet, sweaty, or getting our boots muddy.
