My wife and I used this travel company for a trip to Peru from 8 April to 18 April this year (2017). In a nutshell, the travel company's owner did a GREAT job !!! I highly recommend his company.
I provided a rough outline of what we wanted through Zicasso (hike, jungle, Inca Ruins, Machu Picchu, 4 to 5 star hotels if possible, etc.). My travel agency and another travel company replied with draft itineraries and quotes. This travel company's owner responded very quickly while the other company took a couple of days. Both designed itineraries that were similar but this travel agent's was about 25% lower in price. We were a little concerned the lower price meant lower quality hotels but I did a little research and determined the hotels looked just fine. They were. They met or exceeded our expectations.
Our agent used an tour company for our private transfers and tours. Most of our transfers included a driver AND a guide, even for a short 30 min ride from the airport or train to our hotel!! The short transfers ended up as mini-tours of the city or area. We learned a lot and were able to ask questions as we rode through cities and towns. We didn't expect this and we were pleasantly surprised. The tour company folks were very prompt, their guides were extremely knowledgable/educated and well organized. We had multiple domestic flights or train rides between locations and the guides always showed up with our boarding passes for trains/airplanes and accompanied us all the way to baggage check-in.
The most memorable parts of our trip were (1) the beautiful scenery in the jungle and the Andes Mountains of Peru and (b) the wonderful food. In my opinion we picked the best time of year to visit. It was between the wet season and dry season so while there was a daily risk of rain, everything was well irrigated and very very green. We had only two afternoons of rain but since we came prepared with the proper clothing/gear we didn't let the wet weather stop us.
As for the food, we heard Peru had good food but didn't realize it is considered one of the world's leading culinary destinations. Every restaurant from Lima to Cusco to Aquas Calientes (even burger joints) took pride in the quality and presentation of their dishes. The fish, especially trout, was amazing.
If we could do this trip again we would have spent an extra day/night in each location, except for Lima. We had 3 days/2 nights in the Amazon Rain Forest, 3 days/2 nights in Sacred Valley, 2 days/1 night Machu Picchu (stayed in Aquas Calientes), 3 days/2 nights Cusco, 3 days/2 nights Lima. We would have liked an extra day/night in each of the locations but would have been fine with 1 night in Lima before heading back home to the U.S.
