We are eternally grateful to Karen for planning the honeymoon of our dreams. The trip was, from start to finish, flawless.
Within minutes of our first call with Karen, we knew we were in good hands. Karen spent a lot of time crafting a unique trip that reflected our interests and stayed within budget. We were blown away by her itinerary as it truly captured our requests (and added so many things that we would have never thought to add to our trip).
We felt at ease throughout the entire planning process. Karen was always very responsive and provided significant assistance as we prepared for our trip. She even helped us find a great deal on travel insurance. In the weeks leading up to the trip, the information and pre-trip communications were incredibly helpful--we felt totally prepared as we embarked on our three week journey.
We can't say enough wonderful things about our time in New Zealand and Fiji. New Zealand is the most incredible country we have ever visited. And, thanks to Karen, we visited the most extraordinary places and met amazing people during our journey. All of our accommodations and vendors (i.e., tour guides, transportation providers, etc.) were impeccable. There were so many moving parts in New Zealand I was certain we would experience at least one hiccup--but it never happened! Everything was truly perfect.
If you are fortunate enough to travel to New Zealand or Fiji, don't do it without the help of this travel company. We will definitely use this company again when we plan our next trip to New Zealand/Australia.
There were so many!
-We adored Napier/Hawke's Bay. We had the most extraordinary day with our tour guides. We were able to learn so much about the Maori culture during our private, day-long tour. We also had the most incredible wine and food during our progressive wine dinner.
-We fell in love with Nelson and the lovely owners of our villa. We spent an amazing day tasting wine and shopping in art galleries with our guide-- she was the best! And we loved spending the day kayaking, cruising and hiking in Abel Tasman.
-Fox Glacier and Lake Matheson were gorgeous. We opted not to do a heli-hike, but thoroughly enjoyed our walks in that region.
-We loved the drive from Fox Glacier to Queenstown--the roads are slightly terrifying, but the views were spectacular.
-While we loved our entire trip, the overnight cruise in Milford Sound was extraordinary. Although the cruise was the highlight, we found the trip from Queenstown to Fjordland National Park to be equally enjoyable. Our bus driver/tour guide) was fantastic and we spent the long journey captivated by his stories. If you visit NZ, you cannot skip Milford Sound--there is a reason it is considered the 8th wonder of the world.
-We were so happy we spent the final days of our honeymoon in Fiji. The place we stayed is the most extraordinary resort. If you can, get a villa with a plunge pool. You never have to leave your villa unless you want to --we had a pool, our own beach, sun chairs, a canopied outdoor bed, an indoor and outdoor shower, living room and beautiful bedroom. The food at the resort was incredible and the service was impeccable. We have vowed to return to the resort for our 5th wedding anniversary.
-I am not sure if it is feasible, but we would have skipped Christchurch. I have heard that it was an stunning place to visit prior to the earthquake, but now it is the land of construction. We stayed overnight in order to catch the wonderful Tranzalpine train in the morning. I wouldn't have skipped that amazing train ride, so I think Christchurch is unavoidable. If there is a way to skip Christchurch and still take the train, we recommend it.
-We would have looked into a private/semi-private wine tour in Central Otago. We loved our tour guide and the wineries, but the group was a little too large (there were 9 of us). Sometimes it felt as though the tour guide was herding cats.
-We would have skipped or at least mentally prepared for our flight into Wellington. That flight was truly terrifying and we did not learn until after the flight that Wellington is known for its windy, scary landings. But, as Lord of the Rings fans, we loved the Wellington airport.
