Our travel agency did an excellent job of communicating by phone and email in setting up a trip that was completely customized to our needs. She handled our local flight reservations, hotel reservations, private van transportation for 5 days, train tickets, passes for hiking the Inca trail and passes for Machu Picchu. She was flexible in changing our itinerary at the last minute and also a little bit along the way. Our driver was always on time and navigated the busy and often scary roads with ease. We had an excellent tour guide for our family of four and we would recommend her to any family or group going to Cusco who needs a professional and knowledgeable guide.
The most memorable part of our trip was definitely hiking the last 8 km of the Inca trail to the Sungate overlooking Machu Picchu. Our guide was so informative on the entire hike as well as at the site, not to mention the other places we toured including the salt flats, Chincheros, Ollantaytambo, Sacred Valley, Moray and Cusco. She covered all the bases, not just just by passing on information and facts to us but in keeping us prepared and on track. She has a huge heart and it shows in all she does. She also loves her job which makes it more fun for the people she's leading. She learned our names immediately and made a point to get to know us personally over the five days we were together. She was very flexible when we wanted to change the schedule, and was even helpful to two of our sons friends who needed help changing their train tickets. She always notified the staff of the restaurants we visited about my husbands nut allergy. She was willing to go out of the way to take us to special alpaca factories and make dinner reservations and taxi arrangements for us. She was a key part to our vacation being so incredible.
We had problems with LC Peru on our flight from Lima to Cusco. We were delayed and the plane we flew on was pretty old. It would be best to stay on the same airline if possible on your flight into Lima and on your connecting flight. We used Expedia to book our international flight which became a problem when we were trying to get a refund when we saw the fare went down and when we tried to upgrade our seats to premium economy. If possible, always book directly with the airline.
The other thing we would have liked to do but didn't have time was hike Waynapicchu, which is the famous mountain you see in all the pictures of the Machu Picchu ruins. It requires a seperate advance pass that this travel agency can obtain.
