Karen with this South Pacific travel agency worked with us at every stage of planning the trip, from choosing destinations to making lodging and intra-country plane reservations to arranging drivers and guides. She listened to what we said about our interests and our hopes for our trip, and she was responsive to all that we asked.
From beginning to end, the arrangements Karen had made were executed perfectly. When we were in Australia our travel agency's associated agency also worked to make everything go smoothly for us. My husband needs distilled water for a breathing machine, and the people at the company arranged to have it delivered to us if the circumstances where we were staying would make it difficult to acquire. That was a small touch, but something we appreciated.
Because of Karen's and the agency's care and attention to detail, we had a wonderful trip. Our hotel rooms and lodges were always lovely, our views from our "bedroom" windows were often spectacular, and our guides were always pleasant and knowledgeable.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend thisd agency and our representative to anyone planning a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We hope to return someday, and I'm sure we'll choose this company again to arrange the trip.
This experience has also given us confidence in using Zicasso to help us find travel agents for future trips to other parts of the world.
Probably the most memorable parts of our trip in Australia were the personal tour of the Taronga Zoo and the backstage tour of the Sydney Opera House, and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef (though we might have preferred to travel to the Outer Reef instead of confining ourselves to the Inner Reef). In New Zealand, the highlights were the tour of the thermal areas around Rotorua and our cruise on Milford Sound, along with the drive to and from the Sound, which featured many spectacular "volunteer" waterfalls (because it was raining).
Some of the most enjoyable moments were relaxing in the beautiful New Zealand city of Queenstown, looking at the spectacular views from our lodge outside Rotorua, and our wine tours in the Hawkes Bay and Central Otago wine regions of New Zealand. Many of our meals were supplied by the lodges where we stayed, and they were all exceptional. Queenstown also has a number of restaurants that serve delicious food.
When we return, we will visit a smaller number of places and stay longer at each one. This was our first trip to these countries, and we asked for, and received, an overview that would not leave us feeling that we had missed anything that we would regret not seeing. Next time we want to spend more time exploring Sydney and Queensland, more time enjoying the countryside around Rotorua, and more time in the countryside of New Zealand's North Island (which we found more interesting than most guidebooks suggest it will be).
