We travelled with our three teenaged children. Our trip included Venice, Tuscany, Rome and Sorrento. The trip went off without a snag. Everyone showed up right when they were supposed to be there and all of the guides were very helpful and full of information. All of our transfer went off without a hitch.
All of the hotels were either four or five star rated and they were all terrific.
Hotel in Venice - great location, helpful staff, nice antique Venician feel to the rooms.
Resort in Tuscany - Beautiful Tuscan setting, large gorgeous suites and grounds. Seemed to be operating at half speed with only one restaurant open with a limited menu.
Hotel in Rome - Well kept, nice but small rooms and limited facilities. Very central and able to walk to most of the sites.
Hotel in Sorrento - Spectacular view from our junior suites "hanging off the cliff" overlooking the sea and Mt Vesuvius! Gorgeous rooms and very helpful staff.
The wonderful thing about this trip is that there was more than one highlight in each of the four places that we visited!
Venice was unique and beautiful. An early morning jog as the beautiful city was waking up and mass at Saint Marco's Basilica were highlights.
Tuscany is as scenic as all of the pictures and our guide was enthusiastic, accommodating and full of great information! The winery tour that we enjoyed of Vigna Maggio was an unexpected surprize. The setting is incredible and the lunch was the best meal of our whole trip....and we had a lot of great meals!
Rome was everything we had hoped it would be. The two tours (Vatican and Ancient Rome) that were planned were perfect. Our guide for both enthusiastically filled our heads with great information, answering all of our questions. They lasted three or four hours each day and left us time to explore Rome on our own.
Sorrento is beautiful and the absolute highlights were the view from our rooms and our private boat tour of Capris! Our captain, hosted us on a 36' cruiser to an amazing day of incredible Capris scenery, swimming and exploring, along with food and drinks! This was definitely the most fun filled day of our trip!
Our time in Tuscany included too much driving. We would have preferred a more central location and while the resort we stayed at was beautiful it felt like it was operating at half speed with limited restaurant options where we were too far out for other choices.
We ended up cancelling our last day's hike as we wanted to rest and enjoy the sites and waterfront in Sorrento.
Overall, great trip!!!
