It was our first tailor made trip and it was great! Without having much idea of what we would like to see in India we came across the Zicasso webpage. Reading the reviews of previous customers helped tremendously to pick some key places we would like to visit. We decided that seeing how the life of the ordinary people goes as well as the splendid nature of India should be the main goals of our trip. However, we could not let ourselves to miss out such incredible places as the Taj Mahal or the Amber Fort, of course.
The travel agent got our vision of the upcoming trip immediately. Nevertheless, it took us some two weeks of iterations until the itinerary was brought to the trip of our dreams. During this time we exchanged many emails and several phone calls with the representative of our travel company responsible for arranging our vacation. The travel agent took into account all our wishes, so we could discuss them and decide which ones we can manage to include in our trip.
After coming to India and seeing and feeling how different it is from the Western world we felt incredibly easy and comfortable since everything was actually taken care for us. There was always someone picking us up from the airport, we also had the same driver for almost all the duration of the trip. The choice of the local guides, as well as the hotels was very appropriate for our desires, and made us feel safe and relaxed. This was actually very important for us since India can look very strange to a foreigner sometimes.
We think that we made the best choice by choosing Zicasso, and Zicasso made the best choice by giving us over to the right travel agency. This made our first trip to India wonderfully beautiful and unforgettable!
One of the highlights of our trip was a stopover in Jojawar - it is a small rural village in Rajasthan where there is a spectacular estate used as a hotel nowadays. We took rest from the hassle of Indian cities and enjoyed a lot a jeep and a train safaris. Our host showed us how local people live, cook, and farm in the villages around. And since there were no other guests in the estate at the moment we were served a special "Maharaja style" dinner, which was one of the best meals we had during the trip.
We also liked our visit to Ranthambore. We went twice to the jeep safari in the natural reserve where we've seen a lot of wild animals and enjoyed the nature. Although we haven't got to see a tiger, despite all the efforts of our guides, it was an exciting adventure. We also enjoyed the Ranthambore fort, especially the Hindu temples of Shiva and Ganesh, and opportunity to interact with the numerous monkeys around.
There were a couple of activities (visiting a charity run school for children from slums in Varanasi suburbs and visiting the Ranakpur temple complex on the stopover in the long drive), which didn't work out because of some organisational problems one could easily foresee (the school was closed for a Christmas break and we didn't have enough time to stop at the the temple). Those were not our main goals, and there were so many more places we have visited, so it didn't spoil our mood. But next time we'd ask the agent to double check activities that we find important to happen, but that might seem not-so-important to someone else.
