My travel agent was very informative. As soon as I spoke on the phone with him he instilled the impression of the endless knowledge of Greece. I was a little hesitant to go through a travel agency at first, but I had really hope to learn about the history of the country so I had opted have a tour guide. On top of that I was a little worried about being in an uncomfortable car for the trip but that wasn't so. Our tour van was very nice and comfortable. Our agent had provided a very nice itinerary that detailed the trip and was also accessible via an app. Being in a foreign country and reluctant to use roaming, the offline feature of this app was immensely useful. It helped with our flight times and what our activity were each day. It also had all the contacts you needed for the trip, including an emergency 24/7 contact (which I thought was a nice touch). I chose Zicasso because I wanted that luxury experience that I often plan with my own vacation. Was really glad to have definitely felt the VIP experience. The company had planned everything down the the knitty gritty including having a person meet and greet with you as soon as you got off the plane. As this trip was tailored to the things I wanted to see and do, I had emphasized a few things that our agent had made happen. On top of that, he maintained contact with me throughout the whole trip. The pick up and drop offs at the various location during our trip (with drivers that weren't our normal driver) were always courteous and had a nice car. The hotels he had picked for us to stay always seem like the best in the area, or had the best view/value. When there was a little hiccup in the plan, the company chose to swallow the extra charges that accrued. Overall, I would definitely go with this travel company again. Very happy with my experience with them.
Definite high points was our tour guide and our driver. I couldn't recommend them enough. Our guide was immensely knowledgable of Greek history. Both my father and I are history fanatics and loved every part of the tour. We asked lots of difficult questions of which she always had the answers to. Our driver was always in semi-professional attire. His dress shirts were always nicely pressed. Was always very impressed with the snazzy outfits he had on every day. He also had the best sense of humour and was super nice. On our very last day, I made a little blunder and had taken my father's passport with me to the airport. He was nice enough to drive the passport all the way back the downtown hotel (40+ min drive). Can't thank him enough!
Another highlight of our trip was definitely Santorini. One of the most beautiful places we have visited. The white and colorful cave house architecture that sprawled at the top of the mountains were beautiful. From the ocean, it looked like snow covered peeks! We opted to take a catamaran trip during our stay in Santorini. Can't recommend it enough. Seeing the whole island on the boat, taking a dive in the hot spring, and watching the sunset was definitely knocked this vacation out of the park!
We were also glad that we went in March during off season. We stayed a couple days in April and definitely saw the change in crowd. The first few days we were there (mid March), the streets were a lot less packed and make for better photo opportunities.
If I had to do this trip again, I would probably opt to stay on the islands longer. Few of my family members (myself included), suffer a little from motion sickness. It might not be much but the 3-4 hours car ride to and from each city was sometimes a little painful. The islands involved a lot less driving and lots of walking. Although the historical things on the mainland are very much worth seeing, the car sickness took a bit of the fun out of it. Was always running to the bathroom at the end of the car ride.
