We had an excellent trip travelling with eight people and three generations. My parents had a great time celebrating their 50th Anniversary. All of our drivers and tour guides were great and all of our connections worked out well. All of the hotels were in good locations with us being able to walk to things and we felt well taken care of in the hotels.
The minor issues we had during the trip were the rooms in Colmar not being what we had expected; the itinerary said a family room and two doubles, but what we ended up with were two triples and a double, but we made it work. And, in Rothenburg, they wanted to charge us for the rooms saying we had to pay when we checked out. We did not end up paying for them and they used the credit card on file to pay for the rooms. Again, these were minor and got resolved, but did cause a bit of a headache at the time.
We also had an issues prior to the trip regarding paying the original invoice. There was some confusion as to the amount that we could or could not pay by credit card. We finally got it resolved having one party directly pay the hotel. It just seemed to be a bit more confusing than it had to be at the time.
All in all it was great and we came home with lots of memories!
We really enjoyed our stay in Colmar, the tour to Eagle's Nest in Germany, the Nightwatchman Tour in Rothenburg, the walking tour in Munich and just walking around Salzburg and the Lakes Region. We also really enjoyed our stay at Schloss Fuschl in Salzburg. The children on the trip really enjoyed the tour of the Louvre, the castle tours and the tour of Versaille. We enjoyed experiencing the different cultures and the different foods along the way. It was a lot of moving around, but we felt like we saw and experienced a lot.
I would probably skip the Neuschwanstein Castle tour, it was a beautiful setting, but the castle itself was not that exciting, probably because it is not completed and it was very crowded. I also could have skipped the stop in Ulm, we did not find it very exciting. The other tours and castles were much more interesting. I could have spent another day in Rothenburg and another day in Fussen.
