Overall, we had a fabulous time and experience. All the tour guides provided valuable historical and geographical insights that made our walking tours more complete and informational. Their English was clear and understandable.
I do believe the drivers at each stop could have announced themselves better. We were looking for a sign with our names on it each time without success. We had to track down most of our drivers by asking for assistance in a country where we know little of the language.
There were a couple of logistical challenges during the trip that were handled efficiently by our travel company when we contacted the 24 hour Customer Service Number. Considering the diverse itinerary and agenda, challenges can be expected, so it was comforting to have a customer service agent available 24 hours a day.
Again, we loved the itinerary, agenda, tours, lodging and most of all, the weather that the travel company reserved for us! Our agent provided great customer service, guiding us through the planning process and making helpful suggestions.
The food and wine tours in Tuscany Region were fun and quite tasteful. For me Tuscany was the highlight of the trip. The warm October weather enhanced the experience. Additionally, did I say the food was fresh and delicious.
All the hotels were quaint and accommodating. We especially liked our host in Cinque Terre. He was overly gracious, accommodating, and provided personal customer service. Our hotel was in a beautiful setting in Figline with nice accommodations, picturesque views, and helpful staff. The breakfast at each location was ample and tasty.
Rome was a historical journey for us, providing us so much context for the formation and development of Italy. A visit to the Catacombs under the Vatican was memorable.
Cinque Terre was beautiful and opened our eyes to a beach setting in the world we could return and enjoy for an extended period of time.
This was our first trip to Italy and would recommend our itinerary to anyone going for the first time. We experienced large geographical parts of Italy offering us diversity and historical insights. The regions, even within the Tuscany Region, provided diverse gastronomical pleasure and the wines and fresh EVOO was awesome. If we took the trip again, we might extend our vacation time and do a little less walking each day as we were literally engaged all the time with little downtime.
