My Husband and I traveled from June 28-July 11. We traveled to Rome, Tuscany and Positano.
From the very first email I received from our contact, I felt as if I choose the right person to work with.
I emailed our agent our budget, interests, our likes, dislikes, physical limitations and what would be an overall be a dream vacation, a, maybe, once in a lifetime trip for us.
Our agent gave us ideas and very quickly came up with an itinerary that, after we tweaked until it became everything we were looking for.
Our agent spent countless hours helping me as I didn't understand how things worked in Italy. I emailed him so often, with questions, lots and lots of questions and changes and he never made me feel like it was a problem. He was always patient. I told him lots of personal things and stories about us so he could get to know us and better fit us for our vacation. I know it took up a lot of his time. He always replied in a timely manner and always made me feel he was there for me. He was a real "hand holder". I don't know how many people or companies I can say that about.
Everything our agent planned for us worked out exactly the way he said it would. I just didn't get it at first but our agent assured me that "once you are there it will all make sense" and it did! I had a lot of "Ah Ha" moments and that was a great feeling.
Our trip was AMAZING! All of our hotels and properties exceeded our expectations. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, polite, enthusiastic about the sites they showed and all spoke perfect English.
Our drivers were always on time and spoke English and happy to share history and facts about the areas where they drove. The vehicles were all first class, clean, and great A/C. I always felt safe and comfortable. Our agent and the team at this company did an amazing job. They stayed in touch with us right until the time we were getting ready to board our plane, in Italy and greeted us home when we came back. Who does that? It was really remarkable. I look forward to booking another vacation with our agent and his travel team.
We really enjoyed the Introduction to Rome tour. Our guide was wonderful and really knew her history!!
Rome was definitely hectic, hot and very crowded but we expected that because of the time of year we went. We still found the city to be like nothing else we ever experienced and we hope to go back one day. It's just amazing how there are ancient ruins, masterpiece sculptures and magnificent architecture and history in a city full of ordinary people just living life as if they were not living somewhere extraordinary. I loved that> The food was WONDERFUL too!!
Tuscany was everything I dreamed it would be!! It was beautiful. So peaceful compared to busy Rome. It felt good to take a deep breathe and relax for a moment. Our stay at the apartment was very authentic. The property is gorgeous and I cried when I walked into our apartment! The owners are wonderful, lovely people who are so helpful and kind. A true highlight was the cooking class. The chef was a wonderful host and teacher and our food was great!! I would highly recommend her class. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well. Our private wine tasting was very very nice.
I fell in love with San Gimignano and and look forward to going back one day.
Positano.............It stole my heart and I will never be the same after being there. The Almafi Coast is just one of those places you can't explain to someone. You have to see it with you own eyes. Our hotel was beyond my expectations. I could have lived out the rest of my life in that room. The view was incredible and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast being delivered every morning was the icing on the cake!
If I was forced to pick one experience over another then, our boat ride down the coast, would be at the top of my list. I think my husband's too. He LOVED Pompeii and that would be at the top for him.
The FOOD!! The food was so so good everywhere we went. The WINE!! The wine was wonderful and so well priced compared to the states.
Go to Rome off season.
Do thewine and olive oil tour.
Hire a private guide for the Uffizi and spend at least two days in Florence.
Do the private wine tasting a little later in the day. I didn't want to visit anything else after that. As wonderful as they were, I found myself saying, " No more walled cities, I just want to relax and have another glass of wine." :-)
I would stay in Positano at least another 2 days.
Eat more prosciutto and drink more Tuscan wines! :-)
