We had an unbelievable time in Ireland. Everything worked out as planned, even the weather (8 days of 80 and sunny).
We broke the trip into three parts. We started at the Lodge at Doonbeg. It is a fairly isolated resort on a spectacular beach. It features one of the best golf courses I have ever played. We played golf and went to the Cliffs of Moeher from here. We then traveled south to Killarney. Killarney is a midsize town at the foothills of the mountains in southern Ireland. We went there during the 4 day horse racing festival at a racecourse regarded as the most beautiful in the world. I can't disagree. We played golf 40 min west of Killarney at Tralee. It is a great golf course. We then went to the Adare Manor. Here we played more golf and went clay pigeon shooting.
I would not go back to the Adare Manor and stay in the Golf Course Villas. The villa I stayed in for $1000 per night was worse than a highway motel that you could get for $79. The TVs did not work. The Wifi did not work. There were no paintings on the wall and the paint was cracked. To make matters worse, because we did not stay in the manor, we were not invited to use the swimming pool. And they were very rude about it.
