We want to thank our agent for her outstanding service planning our 3-week vacation to Australia and New Zealand around the Christmas and new year holidays of 2015/2016. Our agent's attention to details in preparation of our extensive travel resulted in a well-coordinated vacation. She was charming and pleasing throughout the planning. But, what we want to commend her for goes far beyond charming and pleasing. She was reliable and dependable far out of the ordinary. She showed us continually that we could have complete confidence in her ability to see things through even when there were changes in plans, mainly accommodations. She was also very helpful when we ran into an issue with a tour company while in Australia. She resolved the issue very quickly and we were ecstatic with her alternate suggestion.
It was an unbelievably gorgeous time of the year there. The weather was perfect with sunshine, blue skies, very comfortably warm temperatures, and very little rain. We truly wish we could have gotten to Uluru and the Red Centre but opted out of this location because we were told it would be extremely too hot. However, I plan to visit again and will definitely make visiting the Uluru a priority.
Our travel company began and ended coordination of our plans during frequent periods of high stress, namely during major holidays. However, the reps at this company remained kind and helpful as they diligently persevered with their service allowing us to experience a vacation of a lifetime.
The awesomeness of Sydney during New Year’s eve will always be a tough act to follow. The events look awesome on TV, but they are simply spectacular in person. We opted for a six course meal in a rotating restaurant on the 47th floor with a direct view of the Bridge and Opera House. Wow, what a great choice. We were able to attend an opera in the iconic Opera House and was part of the first group to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge welcoming in 2016. What a mesmerizing view from the top. Also spectacular were the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns; the cultural melting pot and shopping of Melbourne; the breathtaking scenery and thrill seekers paradise of Queenstown; Rotorua's fascinating history with its living Maori culture, and the hot springs spa; feeding kangaroos and cuddling kolas. There are entirely too many things to list that made this a trip of a lifetime.
If I had to do it all over again, despite the temperatures in the winter, I would have visited the Uluru and participated in some of the local activities with the Aboriginal people in the bush. That's my biggest regret.
