We took a 12 day trip to Italy with our four teenaged and young adult children. The trip was impeccably planned. Everything went as planned. Every driver or guide that we had was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with and arrived in a timely fashion. Each hotel surpassed our expectations in terms of location, amenities and quality of accommodations. We felt that by going through an Italian travel agency our travel agent was in a great position to really be sure we saw the parts of Italy we wanted to see, while focusing on the things that were most important to us in traveling. It was so perfectly organized that it took any stress about traveling in a foreign country out of the equation. I would not hesitate a second to use this company to arrange another trip to this region.
Where to start!
We loved all of our private tours of museums. It allowed us to see the most, especially in the Vatican City, Venice, and Pompeii.
The idea of a Vespa tour of Rome (each person rides behind a driver) was met with skepticism by some of our teens, but it was incredibly fun for all. I can't thank all of the drivers enough, and we saw and learned a ton about Rome.
The full day private boat ride around Capri was absolutely incredible. Our captain was awesome and managed the day exactly as we wanted. The views were amazing and it was so relaxing and memorable.
We visited a vineyard and did a cooking class there. It was just really fun. Our agent made sure to schedule a variety of things to do so each day was different and we had some time scheduled and some down time.
I think that towards the end I would schedule one or two days of just relaxation. By the last full day there we were tired and it was harder to be enthusiastic about having a planned outing. It might have been nice to just have a day or two to unwind before heading home. We saw the Ferrari museum, which was busy and probably the least favorite event that we did. I think you really have to really love car racing and cars as a major hobby to truly love that experience, though the museum is definitely well done. We also took a long hike in the Chianti region where we loved the guide and learned a ton, but it was a 14 km hike in a lot of heat....given the time of year it would have been wiser to plan a slightly shorter hike of 10 km or so. However, overall it was an absolutely amazing trip and we are glad that we did everything that we did! It was fantastic.
