Myself and my husband booked our honeymoon with these travel planners several months before we left. They were so helpful and patient with us as we chopped and changed our ideas along the way. They answered their emails very quickly and even rang when we needed to talk details about the trip. They are both really lovely kind and genuine people, totally dedicated to ensuring we had a trip of a life time and provided a 5 star service all the way from booking to sending us off at the airport. They were available 24 hours during our entire trip and super flexible when we wanted to change an excursion we had booked or we wanted to added one to it ... even as far as organising a room switch to one that suited our needs more.
They are so proud of their home, Costa Rica, so went out of their way to give us tips and suggestions on local and off the beaten track things to see and experience. All our tours were small and intimate and sometimes we were completely on our own. All the hotels were of high standard and usually had something unique about them.
We had two weeks in Costa Rica and our travel planners ensured we saw all the sites we could possible see in that time but also ensuring we weren't racing around and got lots of downtime. Two weeks felt like 2 months. I came back home rested and excited to share all my new experiences.
These travel planners are truly amazing!
We saw so much and everything was A-MAZING! The highlights for me would be:
The Hummingbird gardens in the Monteverde Rain Forest, the Hummingbirds land on your fingertips, absolutely magical.
The night Safari in Monteverde Rain Forest, we saw tarantulas in the mud walls and pythons hanging in trees, super cool!
The hotel room at La Fortuna had huge glass sliding doors looking out to the Volcano. We would open these and lay in bed and look out to the gigantic Volcano and be mesmerised by it's ever presence while watching the Tucans fly by. It felt like the Volcano was only meters away. Truly awesome!
The white water river raft down to Pacuare Lodge and the actual stay at Pacuare Lodge. The service is amazing, the rooms are incredible, it's like living in a tree hut in the middle of the rain forest (pretty much what it is) but with all the mod cons. You could shower out in the nature with all the wonderful birds and the staff lit candles in the room in the evening so you came back to a beautifully lit romantic hideaway. And the food! The food was incredible! I still talk about it today, I don't think I have eaten as good food since.
The zipline in La Fortuna. SO. MUCH. FUN! I could do it over and over again! Highly recommend!
The hotel in Tamarind was also amazing! Beautiful gardens, lovely staff and amazing little alcoves to chill out in by the pool. Could have stayed there longer sipping cocktails by the pool.
The monkeys coming on to the tables at breakfast and stealing the sugar packets :) and the sloth we watched sleep in the tree while we ate breakfast.
We did several guided nature walks in various reserves and saw so many beautiful birds and wildlife in all different colours, shapes and sizes. There is just so much to see. You think once you been on one tour, you can't see anything new but all the tours I saw different things, never the same thing twice.
I loved my horse ride in the Tamarind countryside, it was very chilled and lovely to get out in the open farm land.
And a real special treat, which our travel agency didn't do before but organised especially for us was to go on board a boat that had been out fishing for a month and watch them take off all their catch, giant fish like king fishers, Tuna and Shark, super cool! A very unique experience! I think that's what our travel planners were so good at, they designed a trip that was unique to us and tried to meet every expectation and curiosity we had. And they more than met them, they exceeded them!
I would have stayed a few extra nights in Pacuare Lodge, and invested a little extra money to stay in one of the suites with a pool and view over the river, it was magical.
I would do a zipline in several places!
I would like to go back when it is egg laying season for the Turtles, I missed that when I was there.
I would bring better wet weather gear :) It is the rainforest after all :)
I would have liked to have had just a few more days in total so 2-3 weeks instead of 2 weeks.
But I would book all this again with these travel planners, they were super stars!! We aren't the easiest clients to look after and they did a tremendous job!
