Our travel specialist did an amazing job customizing our trip to our likes. In addition, she did a LOT with the money we spent. We usually do things on the cheap on our own, so this cost more than we would usually spend, but it was well worth it. The activities and hotels we stayed at would have cost a lot more, I believe, if we had tried to book them ourselves. Additionally, we didn't know where to start in planning our trip. Our specialist found the best activities!
Our accommodations in Daintree was a blissful experience. It was absolutely top-notch. We really enjoyed exploring and hiking in Daintree National Park. Our accommoation in Port Douglas was also very nice. The seaplane from Heron Island to Gladstone was amazing! The tour of Lamington and Mt. Tambourine was a very memorable trip.
Not much. I wasn't that impressed with Heron Island's management, so I might chose to stay at a different island. We did really like snorkling and seeing the stars so far away from the mainland. The resort was clean and staff was friendly, but the food was pretty bad, and they constantly ran out of food and plates. Additionally, we tried to do our laundry there and had 4 different laundry fails (literally all of their guest laundry facilities were either broken or missing). They finally agreed to put our clothes in the housekeeping dryer at about 10:00 at night after hours of aggrevation.
We had a major problem with Delta Airlines at LAX, so I would choose another airline. At LAX, they announced a gate change for our flight just before the plane was to board. This involved taking a shuttle bus to another terminal. When we got there, they said that was a mistake and we had to go back to our original gate. The problem was, the line for the shuttle bus was at least 150 people long, and there was no way the ~60 of us who had gone to the new gate could make our flight. The gate agents were rude and unhelpful, refusing to help us get back to our other gate to make the flight in time. They kept repeating that it wasn't *their* fault because *they* hadn't been the person who made the announcement. Finally, after demands from some of the passengers got a bit hostile, they agreed to see if we could go to the front of the shuttle line. This was after such unhelpful advice as, "maybe you should go out of security, go over to the other gate (which we couldn't access except by their shuttle or by taxi), and go back through security. It might be faster," and after complaining that if they let us jump in the queue, it might make other people miss their flights (totally ignorning the fact that 60 of us were going to miss our flight because we followed Delta's instructions). My husband and I made it on the first shuttle, and, while boarding the plane, I told the flight attendant that there were still about 30 people stuck at the other terminal, waiting for the shuttle. Apparently no one had even told the flight crew about the problem!
