Every detail worked smoothly: transfers, hotels, air flights and train, guides and drivers. Access to sites prearranged by service and guides. Excellent and safe service all around. Great food across Peru from airport breakfast to end of trip. This was the first time I've booked a private tour (we usually make all arrangements or book on a full service group tour). Our trip planners run agency from Cuzco, and are known around travel sites in Peru as capable and experienced. Speaking on the phone with our travel planner to plan was especially successful. I would do this again!
Many surprises, from High Pass (15,000 ft), Colca Canyon and Condors, and Cuzco, tropical/desert plant life while at 11,500'. Lake Titicaca and Machu Picchu were as special as we expected, though big surprise to follow river downhill to Aquas Caliente. Machu Picchu is not as high as other sites! Changing weather and colorful local inhabitants with every view. The Peruvian jungle was lush (and muddy) but great way to end our travels. The Larco Museum (closest access to Lima airport our last few hours) was excellent.
Perhaps schedule a bit more 'down time' to enjoy several of the the hotel grounds with gardens and such. We did have much of a day for museums. Might have visited more, so if you want museums ask for them! We scheduled to skip large city Lima, and move right along to Arequipa and countryside. A few hours (museum included) at end of trip in Lima was enough.
