Very educational and enjoyable. Hotels were great - very unique. The guides were awesome! Due to the large number of Condor and other service workers we came in contact with we felt like we were constantly tipping. It would have been a lot more convenient to have tips included. Food was good overall except for the hotel in Cusco (food was relatively poor).
Machu Picu and the train ride.
Fewer different hotels - we stayed at 5 hotels/inns in 7 nights. I would have extended my trip and gone to the Amazon. One day in Lima would have been sufficient.
Travel Company Comments
Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your trip. The insights that our clients provide us about the trip and the hotels allow us to improve services for future clients.I just wanted to follow up on the three points that you made.
Regarding tipping: Tipping is a personal choice and it is something that we consider optional. Tipping should be based on your experience, and how you felt that the person attending you performed/looked after you. We include a comprehensive tipping guide for your reference before you travel to help you make decisions on who to tip and roughly how much. For legal and taxation reasons we cannot pre-include tips on our trips.
Regarding your concern about the food at the hotel, I just want to make it clear to anyone reading this review that the hotel in question is a 3-star hotel in the Sacred Valley (and not the more famous 5 star hotel with a similar name). Although this hotel is quality assured by us, I shall have my quality team look into this hotel again and review the restaurant services, as it looks like this hotel is not up to scratch.
Regarding the change of hotels (5 hotels in 7 nights). For trips like yours which cover vast amounts of distance in a short period of time, we are required to include a certain amount of hotels to make things work logistically. We do clearly lay out the logistics of the trip and the hotels used in our itineraries so that the client understands exactly what the trip involves before they commit to the booking. It could have been possible to base you in a hotel in Cusco, which would have given you 4 hotels in 7 nights. However, this wouldn't be beneficial from the point of acclimating to the altitude of the region. Of course we are happy to discuss all the options with you and offer our advice during the planning stage of the trip.
Overall I hope that you had a great trip to Peru and that you'll have good memories of your time in Peru for many years to come.
