We enjoyed our trip and the travel company was very responsive throughout the planning process. The company created an itinerary that matched our style of vacationing. We made several edits to the itinerary and the travel company was very accommodating in meeting our requests. The only reason we give 4 instead of 5 stars is because of some details (a flight change and rental fees) discovered upon receipt of the final itinerary. We would like to have known those things in advance for planning/budgeting purposes. Otherwise, we were very happy with this travel company. The itinerary was very detailed and provided us with everything we needed to know for a smooth trip. Even after our trip, the agency continued to be responsive as we coordinated a refund for an activity that was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Our favorite day on the North Island was the day we spent visiting the geothermal hotspots. We followed up the geothermal hotspots in our itinerary with some activities we found on our own—Redwood walk in Rotorua and Thermal Pools.
Our favorite day on the South Island started with the road trip from Franz Josef to Queenstown. We were able to stop at several scenic overlooks along the way at our leisure. The rental car was reserved through the company. We ended the day by taking the gondola to the Ben Lomond track and hiking the track to its gorgeous 360-view summit. The gondola was a suggestion from the company and we decided to do the track through our own research.
My ideal trip would have included one more day in Auckland and one more day in Queenstown. Unfortunately, work-time constraints forced us to fit our trip into a specific time frame. Given these time constraints, the travel company did a great job creating an itinerary that matched our style and maximized our time spent in New Zealand.

Just to clarify a couple of points that you mentioned, we really have no control over the constant schedule changes that occur with the airlines, however we did update you of the schedule changes. Also, the rental car companies do not allow us to pre-pay the various fees (one-way, airport pick-up/drop off, etc.) when making bookings on behalf of our clients. We did provide you with a summary of what to expect, as we do with all of our clients.
