Going to Spain fulfilled a lifelong dream of ours and our travel agency went beyond what is expected of any travel company. We are not novice travelers and over the years we've encountered some disappointments, either with an unforeseen event or a travel agent/company failing to follow through with understood plans, this was not the case with this company. Over the months leading up to our departure numerous e-mails were exchanged between myself, spouse and our agent explaining what our expectations were and what we wanted to see. Our agent listened carefully and truly helped us create a vacation experience that would meet all of our desires. Specifically, our "musts" were easily accommodated and our agent made additional suggestions to enhance our experience. For example while in Seville, he suggested a day trip through the white villages. There we saw small villages tucked away in the mountains well over a 1000 years old. In the process we visited one of the last remaining olive oil production plants, where olive oil is still made by old presses. We also, drove through a cork forest viewing trees that appeared to be skinned from having the cork freshly harvested, and we sampled olive oil, cheeses, and sherry along with our traditional Spanish lunch. We had perused Rick Steves' guide, as well as Frommer's and Fodor's and don't recall reading about any of this. And this was just one of many ideas he had.
But not only did our agent help us plan ahead he stayed current with what was going on. The day before we left our agent contacted us to let us know about a potential rail strike occurring on one of our travel dates. He had alternate arrangements made before we were even aware there was an issue. No day was wasted, no inconveniences to us occurred. He even provided us with his e-mail and phone number so if there was anything he missed or anything we didn't like we could call and left private wi-fi service for us in every city at no additional charge. I can't say enough positive things about this company and our agent, I just wish I could give him 10 stars.
There are so many I will do my best to list just a few: In Barcelona, we appreciated the knowledge and expertise of our guide. She took us on a city tour which included the works of Gaudi - La Sagrada Familia, Guell Park, and the Padrera. The next day we visited the Picasso Museum and the market. Those days were very memorable. We rented a car to go to Cadaques and that was another adventure that we enjoyed. In Seville, our guide was perhaps the most knowledgeable guide I have ever encountered. Her background in history really added to our visit of the Alcazar. We also had a lot of fun in the white villages with a tour guide and he escorted the following day into Triana for a site seeing and gastronomy tour. And in Madrid, aside from the palace, the cathedral, the Prado, and Retiro Park, we also took a day trip to Segovia, the Valley of the Fallen and El Escorial. I can't recall the tour guide's names in Madrid but we enjoyed them too. It was all incredible!
We would have tried to extend our trip a few more days. That has nothing to do with the travel company, it has to do with our personal lives. But after seeing how wonderful everything is, we would have tried harder to add four more days; one day to Barcelona to see Montserrat, two days to see Granada, and finally another night so we could have spent more time in Segovia. The trip was so nice we wanted to stay even longer.
