This Spain travel agent and his team put together the perfect 10 day customized travel experience in Spain for my husband, myself and our 18 and 19 year old children. We are a very well-traveled family and have used other customized travel services however this agency truly met and exceeded our expectations. From my first email contact inquiring about the services right through the last day in Spain, every detail was covered and done with a very high degree of professionalism, timeliness and detail. Not to mention, my first email was in late June and our trip was planned for August which is one of the busiest seasons of the year in Spain. It is apparent that this agent understands the needs of the upscale American traveler and knows how to accommodate to their taste in hotels, restaurants, places to visit, and provide personal guides that are passionate about sharing their country's history and sites. In addition, the itinerary carefully thought through timing considerations and instructions to get to places and things to take into account when estimating time to explore cities walking/driving on our own. This agent is a top rate travel planning professional and truly understands the value of listening to the client before the trip in terms of finding out what kind of travel they would like and then puts together the perfect itinerary for a wonderful holiday.
Our trip started in Madrid. We loved our hotel, the Hospes Hotel, which was in a great location. We loved the Prado Museum. From there we took the high speed AVE train to Sevilla, which was a great 2-hour magical journey of beautiful landscape. Sevilla had so many sites to see including the Cathedral which is the third largest in Europe. Next we got a rental car and headed south. The roads in Spain are easy to navigate and had very little traffic. Special stops on our journey included Zahara de la Sierra and Grazalema. We have driven the Almalfi coast and this journey in similar in terms of windy roads and narrow passes but well worth it! So beautiful! We then got to enjoy the beaches on the Atlantic coast including Zaraha de los Atunes beach. The surf is beautiful and the water so clean. The beaches are very long and great for walks. From there we travel east towards the Nerja and a must stop is the village of Ronda. A highlight to our trip was this visit to this beautiful town with views over the Serrania de Ronda Mountains. Other highlights included a sail on a private sailing yacht discovering the Axarquia coast. The water is a beautiful turquoise color and the coastline is mountainous and dramatic. We had the pleasure of staying at the Parador in Neja and enjoyed a seaside view room. Granda was a special day trip and the Alhambra is something not to miss. As our trip was coming to an end we had one last special experience as we traveled with a driver and guide by a 4x4 vehicle up through the National Park of Almijara, Tejada and Alhama and Frigiliana. The views were breathtaking and magical. We finished our trip with a special meal at El Mirador in Frigiliana.
Overall our trip was a great blend of seeing the big sites in some of the big cities (Madrid, Sevilla, Jerez, and Granada) and more about seeing the beautiful sites and places on the small streets in the small villages. There is nothing I would do differently. Great trip.
