We had a great trip. One of our most memorable. Our trip was broken up into three parts, Moorea, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Australia. Prior to finding Zicasso and our South Pacific travel agent, we had booked most of our airfare and accommodations in Moorea, and Australia. New Zealand was new to us, and after hours and days researching how to travel there, we were overwhelmed. Then, I found the Zicasso website, and requested an agent. I was eventually given three names, with the first being our agent. After ten minutes on the phone with him, I knew he was our guy. Extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. We gave him a budget, and he orchestrated our accommodations, tours, ferries, trains, and planes. All of our accommodations were terrific and well placed. He even streamlined our transportation needs to and from the airports. Everything went according to plan and smoothly. Prior to our departure, he took about an hour on the phone, reviewing our itinerary, giving us a lot of “local knowledge”, and insight as to how to make the trip easier. From making sure to call a day ahead for tours and transportation, to restaurants and cool places to check out, to best places to sit on the ferry. One final thing, we had two tours canceled on us due to weather, and upon our return, our agent too care of getting our refund from the tour companies. I cannot recommend this agent or this company more highly.
All of it. The hut over the water in Moorea and swimming in the lagoon. The unbelievable geography and beauty of New Zealand and especially its people. They were helpful, engaging, and fun to be around. Great attitude toward life. The food in New Zealand was outstanding. We never had a bad meal and we dined in every type of restaurant and pub. As for towns to visit, we liked Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, and could live in Lake Wanaka. If you travel to New Zealand, we liked the South Island best but both have wonders to explore. You really need to drive down the West coast of the South Island to see some incredible beauty and diversification of geography.
In Australia, which we have traveled to several times, and have relatives in Sydney, we spent about a week in Melbourne. A fascinating city with exceptional architecture, art, muraled alleys and arcades filled with shops of all flavors, intimate restaurants, and cool coffee shops. The museums, botanical gardens and war memorial are a must to see as well as lunch on the Colonial Tram Restaurant that moves through the city as you enjoy an elegant lunch, or dinner, on a tram dining car. Sounds tacky, but it was the surprise of the trip. I’m partial to golf, and you have to play a few rounds in “the sand belt” for a memorable golf experience. Finally, we love the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney, and this time, we got access to the lounge on the 31st floor….with perfect weather. We just love that city and its harbor.
Add two days to Moorea, another 5 days to New Zealand, and 4 more days to Australia. I would love to play a round at New South Wales Golf club outside of Sydney, and one more round in Melbourne. Also, I'd take less clothes.
