Really didn't know what to expect after finding Zicarro on line. But I was contacted by two travel agencies- both seemed experienced. This South America travel company provided an itinerary closer to what we were looking for and we decided to go with them. They were very open to providing options with respect to cost and level of service. All the local guides were independent agencies hired by this company. Some were great; others fair. This agency does everything by email/web- so there really aren't any vouchers. Our itinerary supposedly included a visit to a local crafts market while in Argentina (for Iquacu). But our guide wouldn't take us because he said we didn't have a "voucher." We insisted he call his boss- and his told us "no voucher." I guess we could have paid to go- but it was an annoyance.
We really enjoyed Juma Lodge in the Amazon. Location, service, guide and food were great. As others have mentioned (on TripAdvisor), we were really lucky to have Leon as a guide. Iquacu Falls were fantastic (we did both sides). We left from Rio. Happy with all hotels and 90% of local guides/tours.
Maybe a soccer game in Rio.
