We have always traveled on our own, making all the arrangements and setting up our own itineraries. This has worked pretty well for us in the past, but for our trip to Italy, we wanted to avoid the unpleasantries that came up with every trip- the stress of arranging each hotel and just getting from point A to point B once we're in the country. We also sometimes felt like we might be missing out on some experiences because we spent so much time with the logistics.
We used this Italy travel company and it was absolutely the best travel experience we have ever had. They listened carefully to our requests and desires for our family trip and put together a fantastic itinerary. We were traveling with 2 young teens and it was also our 20th anniversary, so there were a few things we had wanted to include specific to our needs. Our agent took care of every imaginable detail and we were left with only the enjoyable, stress-free part of a vacation to Italy. There was not one thing that was overlooked and my husband and I said many times that this was the best way to travel!
We would highly recommend this agent and travel company and we would absolutely use them again the next time we go to Italy.
One of the best things about using this travel company is that every guide and driver was on time, polite and full of knowledge of the area. We learned so much more by using guides and our kids basically had a 2-week living history lesson. This is something we could not have done on our own.
We had a few experiences that really stood out, besides all the wonderful dinners and gelato... We went to Gladiator School in Rome and we learned how to fight like a gladiator, including the work outs and fighting tactics. We all loved that and had fun with the instructors, who had a great sense of humor.
Also in Rome, we took a half-day cooking class with chef and restaurant owner, Fabio. We went to the market and picked out fish and vegetables and then we went back to his amazing apartment and made pasta and sauces. The food was amazing!
On the Amalfi Coast, we took a private boat ride to Capri. We went all around the island, stopping in coves and jumping off the boat for a swim. Then we went up the funicular to the top of the island and had gelato, before getting back on the boat.
We also enjoyed the fast trains, which took only a few hours to get from Naples to Florence. This is something we hadn't experienced with the kids before and they had a great time on the trains.
Nothing! Maybe we would add a few more days...
