Our agent Andrea, did a wonderful job helping us select our itinerary, selecting hotels, arranging pick ups, cars and airfare. Someone was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived to take us to our hotel and rental cars were brought to us when we needed them. She could have arranged several personal tours, but we elected to use just one In Split. Each area was a little different, in Slovenia it was more of an Alpine feeling, and Croatia reflected more of the Italian flavor. The food was great everywhere we went and the people were very friendly and well versed in English and more than willing to help if needed. My only recommendation to future travelers is if you need to return a car to the unirent office in Split, get detailed maps before you go. Split is the second largest city in Croatia and has many one- way streets that make it difficult to reach certain areas. Andrea had suggested picking up a map a a gas station and it really helped. Thanks for such a wonderful experience.
Everything was wonderful on our trip, but Bled, with its beautiful lakes sitting in the Julian Alps was like a fairytale. Our rooms sat right on the waters edge and we had fabulous view from our room and balcony. Our hike in the Plitvice National park was amazing with the stepped lakes and waterfalls. A must-see. Then the hotel in Hvar was like being on the Riviara. Right on the water with striking views of the harbor and old town. We could walk to everything.
then the trip needed with our three night stay at the hotel in Dubrovnik, again on the water with the most amazing views of the walled city. From our room we could watch the old harbor activisties, sailboats, yachts, excursion vessels and kayaker so. A five minute walk had us at the gate and you would swear it was something Disney had created. Absolutely amazing.
I might add an extra day in Dubrovnik to drive south. We were originally planning to do that but then decided to add a stop in Mostar for lunch on our way down. And maybe an extra day at Plitvice, getting there later in the day and having a whole day to do the park, then up the next day to head to Split. It also might have been easier to spend a night in Spit before taking the ferry. Then getting the car after our stay in Hvar.
