I can’t say enough about the superior travel company. The itinerary was chock full of fun and was full of culturally/historically meaningful days and nights. The driver was fabulous and certainly knows his way around Cuba. He knew special places along the routes to take us for whatever we asked for (including fabulous pizza when we needed a break from Cuban food). He was more than kind, polite, and cheery every day. He opened the door for us at every stop. The guide was also fabulousand fun. Every day she was smiling and polite. She was exceedingly knowledgeable about every town we visited. We learned so much about Cuba and its’ people. She spoke excellent English and helped us to learn more Spanish each day. Thank you for the trip of a lifetime!
Going to a casual baseball game and then meeting some of the players and former players of the Cuba National Baseball Team; wandering around Havana and Old Havana; visiting a tobacco farm, coffee farm, and horseback riding; pork roast party in Vinales with other groups from this travel company; seeing a Flamenco performance at a ballet school; visiting the Grand Theater for a tour and to see part of a rehearsal of Cinderella; dancing in Havana and in Trinidad; a ferry ride in Cienfuegos; snorkeling in Playa Larga; tour of an organic farm and participating in a cooking class; drinking mojitos and micheladas and eating lots of excellent Cuban food. We loved the people and sites of Cuba. Everyone was friendly and very welcoming!
We would have liked to see the Capital (it was closed for renovation so we understand) and spend 3 or so more days at a nice beach. Although we enjoyed the spot where we snorkeled, the town and beach of Playa Larga is not very nice and we would not go back. Most of the accommodations were nice. However, in Vinales we stayed at a private home in a “guest house”. The beds were horrible and the shower was not really even warm. The couple who owned it were lovely and the breakfast was great. The place we stayed in Cienfuegos was ok but too many stairs and a narrow spiral staircase to get to the room. The spiral staircase made it very difficult to get a suitcase up the staircase. The beds were also uncomfortable. The place we stayed in Trinidad was very nice and the host was wonderful. The two houses we stayed in in Havana were fabulous! Hosts there were also wonderful!
