The trip was great in spite of a few problems. After discussions with my agent at this South Pacific travel company we settled on time split between New Zealand and Australia that covered places I wanted to see. She found tours that fit my style and arranged for lodgings in spite of the demands created by the World Cricket matches occurring at the same time. She even had the last 2 day tours refunded when I told her I was "toured out " so I would not hesitate to use the agency again.
Being a senior citizen, I enjoyed the relaxed life style of New Zealand and found the people very friendly and interesting. Australia was a faster pace, probably because I stayed in Melbourne and Sydney, two large cities that demand the faster way of life.
I enjoyed the tours in Auckland and Rotorua along with the trip to the Great Barrier Reef. The dinner cruise in Sydney Harbor was another high light with the Opera House and Harbor Bridge on my list of must-see items.
If I did the trip again I would do Australia first and leave the slower pace of New Zealand for last as I found 3 weeks a bit much for my senior years. This might appeal to older travellers if explained to them.
