We had a wonderful trip to South Africa, Victoria Falls, and Botswana.
A representative from this Africa safari travel coordinator contacted us shortly after we posted on Zicasso. She presented a plan and worked with me to tweak it to my specifications. She always replied to my emails promptly and was willing to offer suggestions and make changes in the itinerary.
Once we booked the itinerary, she followed up with detailed information about South Africa, which was very helpful in planning our vacation. I had many questions, and our representative answered them promptly. These were sometimes very general questions about travel in Africa, such as tipping policies.
A few months before the trip we received a detailed itinerary with pick up times, etc. When we arrived in Cape Town, the tour guide arranged for our free days presented us with a packet of vouchers and information for the trip.
All of the transfer drivers were on time, courteous, and informative. The tour guide in Cape Town was excellent. All of the accommodations were outstanding, definitely five star. Thanks to our representative noting that our trip was a special occasion celebration, we were rewarded with surprise extras at each location. We appreciated this personal touch.
The focus of our trip was game viewing and we were not disappointed. We saw the Big Five and much more at Lion Sands. The guide was personable and knowledgeable. Having a lion come very close to the vehicle, was exciting, as was being surrounded by a herd of elephants one evening! The boma dinner was an unexpected pleasure as we were treated to a little traditional African singing and brai food.
I love sunsets, and sunsets on game drives with a sundowner in hand are impressive. Even better were sunsets while cruising on the Zambezi and Chobe rivers.
We loved Chobe National Park. Viewing animals in a more open space and from the water was quite different from in the bush at Sabi Sands.
If I were planning this trip again, I would add more days. It takes so long to get to Africa from the midwest of the US, that we should have stayed longer and given ourselves a more relaxing trip. I would definitely add a day or two at Chobe, and perhaps a day or two at a second lodge in a different location in South Africa. Also, I would make are I had booked a tour of the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls if I went in September because that is the best side for viewing at that time of the year.
