My wife and I traveled to Italy from October 8 to the 20th. We had several email conversations with our travel planner from this Italy travel agency and before finalizing our itinerary we had a quick phone conversation with her to ask some questions and clarify a few uncertainties we had.
Our travel planner was BEYOND helpful and had some amazing advice on cities and sites we should see as well as some that might be worth leaving off our itinerary in order to squeeze in more worth while stops. She was very knowledgeable of the cities and all aspects we would be dealing with on our trip such as transportation between cities, hotel locations, as well as the best way to approach seeing each of the cities on our journey.
My wife and I had the trip of a lifetime that we really couldn't have planned ourselves if we spent months doing so. There really is no substituting the expertise this travel planner has. We commented to each other on the way to the airport for our departure that we felt a bit uneasy because we hadn't been as involved in the booking of tours etc. as we had been in the past with other trips. Once we touched down in Venice, and experienced the level of service provided by our travel agency and the people they employ, as well as the standard of accommodation that had been booked for us we knew we could relax and enjoy our trip.
Before we left for our trip we had a very detailed itinerary in our hands, our train tickets, our hotel vouchers, a breakdown and important info on each city we would be visiting along with lists of recommended restaurants, and very helpful information regarding appropriate tipping and other very helpful information.
This travel planner really knows her stuff and I would most definitely recommend her company for the planning of a worry free tour of Italy without any hesitation.
We really enjoyed two cooking classes that were absolutely amazing. We had two very pleasant and friendly people instructing us and the locations were amazing to experience. One was at a small vineyard/family resort and one at a family owned and operated agro tourism farm/restaurant/B&B. Both experiences were quite enjoyable for both of us and we would suggest a cooking class for a slower paced relaxing day to break up the almost always hectic fast paced touring that you encounter when traveling a country like Italy. On top of it you get to enjoy an amazing home cooked meal that you have fun making.
If we were booking this trip again I would have a hard time finding something that I would book differently. We enjoyed every aspect and the only complaint we had which isn't really a complaint is that the gondola ride in Venice was a bit of a let down. It's such a clich thing to do in Venice and I guess one of the things you "have to do" when visiting but we really didn't enjoy it that much and the company we were booked with wasn't all that enthusiastic or welcoming when we showed up for our scheduled time. This was kind of surprising because literally everything else that was booked for us was the complete opposite. Everyone was enthusiastic, friendly and passionate. That would be our only letdown and in reality it was such a small part of such a huge trip it can't be considered anything other than insignificant compared to how amazing the rest of the trip was.
