Our travel planner did an amazing job of accommodating our needs and making recommendations. She was very easy to work with -- we communicated mostly via email with a few phone calls. Her English was excellent which made things easy. Our itinerary was planned as a team with the travel planner presenting drafts to us, followed by edits from us and so on. She wanted to know what types of things we enjoyed doing before she began to make suggestions. We went back and forth to come up with the perfect itinerary. When it came to planning itineraries, you could tell that our travel planner had experience dealing with all type of clients with varying degrees of client involvement (in the planning phase). In that way, the travel planner customizes the trip by customizing the client interaction.
The guides and drivers we had were all extremely knowledgeable and kind. In particular, our guides in Rome and Pompeii (Naples) were fabulous! We would never have learned as much nor had as rich an experience without them. We traveled with our grown daughters (23 and 21) and they enjoyed the trip as much as we did. We covered a lot of ground -- Florence, Rome, Naples (as well as Cinque Terre, Pompeii and Amalfi Coast) -- and with the drivers and train travel the travel planner planned for us, it was extremely easy and enjoyable. The hotel were perfect as well. Our favorite was in Rome, right next to the Pantheon!!
Many thanks to the travel planner and Zicasso!
Its hard to pick out the "most" enjoyable things because everything was fantastic. The highlights would be the Colosseum, Pompeii, walking around the city of Florence for three days, Cinque Terre....
I have no regrets, however to answer the question, I might have skipped trying to see the Amalfi Coast when we knew there wasn't much daylight remaining. That day, we decided to spend 3 hours at Pompeii which the guide allowed us to do (We love Fabrizio!). After Pompeii, Fabrizio took us to a farm where we tasted their wine and ate which was amazing. After that meal/wine tasting, we could have gone back to the city of Naples where we were staying because we did not get to see it much in the daylight. I have one photo of Sorrento (from above) at dusk which was beautiful, however we had run out of daylight and energy so we didn't see the town up close.
