Where do we start with how amazing this Italy travel agency was to work with? They provided 5 star service and beyond on all aspects of our trip. My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary and we wanted to toast it by going on an epic trip. I don’t use that word lightly, but epic it was thanks to this company. We traveled with another couple and this travel agency took care of all of us. My husband had not traveled overseas before and didn’t want to have to stress about travel plans, driving, where to stay, figuring out tours, etc. This company was the solution. From the get go they were very responsive. The agent we worked with got in contact with us to find out more detail on what we were looking for in a vacation. They then gave us an itinerary that we were able to customize to our budget and what was important to us. Putting your trust in a company is a little nerve racking when you are totally depending on them once you arrive from overseas. We shouldn’t have been worried in the least. They helped us feel prepared before we left by emailing us a briefing kit on what to expect when we landed, what to wear and bring, currency info and even useful phrases in Italian. Any remaining concerns were put to rest once we arrived and they had a personal assistant meet us at the gate to walk us through security and get us to our driver that was waiting for us. During the trip they checked in periodically to make sure all was well and also communicated with the different drivers and tour guides that took care of us to confirm we were happy. The different tours they planned for us were so much more than we expected. The hotels they selected for us were each luxurious and unique. All in all we felt very taken care of throughout the trip.
The most memorable or enjoyable part of our trip? That’s hard to narrow down. The descriptions on our itinerary were brief for each of the tours they had planned for us so we didn’t really know what to expect. Our favorite tours would be the wine tasting where we received a personal tour of a 700 year old chianti vineyard and had an amazing private tasting, the truffle hunting where after we hunted for truffles we were brought back to a private residence where an amazing lunch of wine and different recipes infused with truffles was cooked for us, the bike tour through Florence, the market tour and fresh Italian cooking class, the mozzarella factory was also a favorite (although learning about mozzarella and being served amazing dishes overlooking the Italian countryside was not what we expected out of a factory tour, but so much more). The hotel rooms were as enjoyable to be at as the tours. Our travel agency booked us in some amazing hotels that did not feel touristy, but more like the hidden gem you wish you had known about. Each of the hotels we stayed at was unique, had an Italian twist to it (castle in Tuscany with thermal springs to relax in), Spa boutique hotel in city center of Florence, boutique hotel in hills of Positano with a roof top patio overlooking the ocean and in Rome an art gallery/boutique hotel.
If we could do the trip again, what would we do differently? We talked about this a little bit as a group headed home. There is really VERY little we would do differently A few things stick out - I think an additional day in Positano would be a must (we loved the Amalfi Coast and it can definitely be a trip all its own). We were there 3 nights, but it wasn’t nearly long enough. That though is on us for wanting to fit all that we wanted to see in a tight schedule. One of our tours was renting vespas to tour around Capri. We didn’t completely understand just how different the driving is in Italy compared to the U.S. My husband wasn’t as familiar as he needed to be to feel comfortable driving around the Island so we skipped that tour and walked instead. It was lovely in the morning, but by the afternoon the cruise ships had sailed in and the island was packed. I wish we had decided on a tour by boat around the Island instead. The husband of the other couple we went with has his motorcycle license and was comfortable driving the vespa so it just depends on you and your skill level. We wouldn’t do the Limoncello tour if we could do it differently. The people were VERY nice, but it was just too far out of the way for what it was. I think the last thing we would do differently would be to specifically ask the travel agency about tipping. We read up on it and read different things, but when we got there it was confusing to know who to tip and who not to tip. The internet was all over the place with who to tip and how much and who may be offended if you did tip. It would have been nice to have a very clear idea from the travel agency who may expect a tip for really good service and even an amount range to show our appreciation. Besides that - we wouldn’t change a thing! Absolutely an amazing trip planned by this travel agency. We just wish they planned trips all over the world with their knowledge. We may be disappointed by the next trip we plan somewhere else since this company spoiled us on this one.
