The communication was great. The guides provided in Guatemala were fantastic. I loved our guide in Guatemala. We had him for three days and I wish we could have had him longer. He was fantastic. Our guide for our walking tour of Antigua was also great and very knowledgeable about the town’s history. Overall everything went very smoothly and I couldn’t have asked for much better.
I really like the walking tour of Antigua. It was a great way to get to know the town and it’s history with someone who knows it well. I also really liked visiting the community of San Juan on the shores of Atitlán. The community there is unique. We also visited the woman that is on the Guatemalan 25 cent coin in the village of San Pablo on Atitlán. Our guide knew right where to find her and it was a unique part of the trip.
The hike we took on Pacaya was a lot of fun. Roasting marshmallows in the old lava formations was very unique. We were also able to see some lava flowing down the volcano and hear it crackling.
We took a tour of Tikal and everything worked out very smoothly. Our flight was delayed and still everything worked out. Our guide there was very good. He was great with pointing out wildlife and giving us time to see everything.
Although seeing the churches in Chichicastenango were neat and it was neat to see the market I could have skipped it to do something else. I didn’t buy anything in the market. Since we were going to San Juan Atitlán I waited to buy things there from the women that make the items by hand.
