My husband and I spent 19 days in Greece and did not have to think about any logistical issues. Our ride was waiting for us at the airports, at the hotels, at the ferry, at the end of tours, and any time that we moved from one place to another. Every tour was spot on and exactly what we had requested.
We were particularly interested in the history and culture of Greece but also wanted other experiences (like wine tasting, cruising the waters around Santorini, visiting Mykonos, etc). Everything planned for us was perfect! Our travel agent even changed our day on the water when we were in Santorini so that we would have better weather. The day was flipped with the day we visited Akrotiri, and we had an idyllic day on the water on a semi-private catamaran cruise with champagne, wine, and beer and the most incredible lobster dinner. The operations manager texted us often to verify times of pick-up, any slight change in the schedule, and to ensure things were running smoothly.
We had great rooms, the food was fabulous, every tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, every driver was on time and personable, and every tour was what we had hoped for. We even had dinner with the co-founder and the operations manager on our last night. I could go on and on but suffice it to say that it was a perfect trip.October was a great time to visit Greece. It wasn't too crowded but everything was still open and the weather was neither hot nor cold.
We could not pick out any "most memorable or enjoyable part." Every day was different and every experience was memorable. I kept a detailed journal on Facebook (way too lengthy to attach here) everyday and when I returned home to Florida, a great number of people told me how much they enjoyed traveling with us and commented on how much they learned. Several have asked for the name of our travel agent.
We visited Olympia, Delphi, the monasteries in Meteora (a UNESCO world heritage site) at the tops of the rock pillars, Santorini, Athens, Crete, Mykonos, just to mention of few of the places on our itinerary. Our experiences were so varied and that's what we liked. Also, everyone spoke English well and we were really impressed by how kind and genuinely service-oriented everyone we encountered was.
Our hotel in Athens was in a perfect location--on the main shopping street in Athens, walking distance to the Plaka, and several archaeological sites (e.g., Hadrian's Arch and Temple of Zeus), Parliament, the changing of the guard at the unknown soldier site, and much more. At the rooftop restaurant and lounge that we visited on three occasions, we had the most incredible view of the Acropolis and Parthenon. I want to especially give a shout-out to a boutique hotel in Mykonos. I read on TripAdvisor about their extraordinary service. That doesn't even begin to describe how over-the-top the service there is. All other hotels were fabulous as well.
The co-founder planned exactly the type of trip we had hoped for and we do not have a single negative thing to say. Only accolades..
