Once again, Zicasso scores a perfect 10 for having such amazing agents affiliated with their organization. We recently returned from 4 weeks in Australia which was organized by the tour company out of New Zealand. First, they put together an amazing itinerary, including absolutely everything we wanted to see and also made some excellent suggestions for things we hadn't considered. Then throughout the months preceding our trip, they put up with my endless questions and were ALWAYS quick to respond! But the most impressive thing about their agency, is when we had a few (and I do mean few) glitches, they were on it within minutes to resolve the problem. The best example, is when we were in Uluru and our sunset camel ride was cancelled due to bad weather. The hotel told us they would reschedule us for the next night but then the next day they said they were sorry but there was no room to add us. I talked to several people trying to resolve the issue. Then I sent a note to the tour company saying how disappointed I was but that I wanted them to know it was cancelled. Within a short time they had us on an alternative sunset camel ride which the hotel said was not possible. All of our hotels were lovely and in great locations and they arranged such great tours.
There were so many it is hard to know where to begin. First, we loved the Penguin Parade which also included a tour prior where we went to a Koala Conservation Center, and toured Phillip Island with an amazing guide. I can't say enough about our two days on Kangaroo Island where we spent two nights at this amazing Bed and Breakfast and had two days of touring Kangaroo Island. If you go to Australia by all means treat yourself to a couple of nights at the Bed and Breakfast. It was the absolute best food we had the entire four weeks. We took a helicopter ride over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Then we had the sunset camel ride followed by champagne and canapés on top of a dune and then a walk through the Field of Lights. The next morning we had a sunrise tour to watch the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. But the best part of that tour was going to Uluru where we had a tour around the base and then we went to the Cultural Center where we purchased an amazing aboriginal painting. From Uluru we went to Port Douglas where we went scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. The tour company arranged for us to have a private dive master for our three dives and that was a terrific day. Port Douglas has it all, the mountains, the ocean, great artsy fartsy shopping. We also took a tour there of the Daintree Rainforest and rode a Glass bottom skyrail up to a cute little town called Kuranda and then took the train back. We concluded our trip back in Sydney where we climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge which was a spectacular view!
We took The Ghan train from Adelaide to Alice Springs. We felt it was a rather arduous trip and we didn't sleep well at all on the train. It is a beautiful train, and the staff if great, but overall, it was probably one of our least favorites on our trip. We would fly from Adelaide to Ulara and add a day in the Uluru area. While the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge are must sees we didn't enjoy Sydney as much as outlying areas. But we are big nature people and don't really like any big cities. We would NOT do the Sydney Tour but instead go to the Blue Mountains.
