This Africa safari travel company was top notch from initial phone call to the smallest detail of the trip itself. I just returned last week from a solo safari to Tanzania that frankly was a bit out of my comfort zone at the outset but because of this company's care in listening carefully to my hopes, likes/dislikes, and most of all the feel I wanted from the experience, suggesting properties to best fit me, and then executing the itinerary flawlessly I felt like a queen for a day (for 12 days!) The company thought of everything right down to providing the perfect duffle and hat. I even took them up on their offer of a phone call a few days before my departure to walk me through the on the ground flow and answer my last minute questions. There's no substitute for having access to people that have hands on experience with every property they recommend. I've traveled a fair amount and I can say unequivocally that this trip was the most special. A great deal of the credit goes to the company. I will turn to them again to help me plan my next adventure and have already recommended them enthusiastically to friends and family.
It's impossible to pick a favorite experience. Maybe the 30+ species of mammals and countless birds set in a landscape so vast to be unimaginable in today's world. Perhaps waking up from a doze on the daybed on my verandah to a herd of giraffe munching on shrubs 15 feet away and then spending an hour with just me and them. The sobering intensity of two lionesses taking down a cape buffalo or the peace of another lioness nursing her four cubs. I could select an hour with a Maasai chief and his four wives discussing the merits of charcoal as a purifier (we use it in water filters, he to clean the gourd used to store their traditional milk/blood mixture) or the history of our native Americans versus the Maasai. I was pretty partial to the dinner table conversations with guests and staff from over a dozen countries but wouldn't leave out breakfasts in the bush, a picnic lunch overlooking a herd of a hundred elephants or a sundowner on the shore of Lake Manyara. Going to bed each night with turned down sheets and a hot water bottle or morning wakeups with the best coffee I've ever had might compete. I could go on...
I might break up the travel to and returning. Tanzania's only flaw is it is too far away and it's a very long trip to do in one marathon.
