Your journey will begin in Cusco, which was once considered the navel of the world. As the birthplace of the Inca civilization, the city is a captivating combination of pre-Columbian and post-colonial influence. You will experience it all as you visit the city and step inside the ancient Sun Temple, which is known as Qorikancha. Then, you will be provided with your first taste of local flavor when you visit several open-aired markets in downtown Cusco. As you move from stall to stall, you can converse with the locals and try local fruits like the chirimoya and maracuya. The following day, your guide will lead you on an immersive tour of Chinchero, which was once a resort getaway for the Inca nobility. Later, as you continue through the Sacred Valley, you will arrive in the mountain town of Aguas Calientes, which is home to the famed UNESCO ruins of Machu Picchu.
During the second half of your journey, you will return to Cusco and discover the ancient ruins at Tambomachay, which lie just beyond the city limits.
