Detailed Itinerary 

Day 1: Depart USA
Today you will depart the USA for your international flights to Kenya – the adventure begins!

Day 2: International Travel
Continue on your journey to Nairobi, the safari capital of the world.

Day 3: Nairobi
Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your guide and escorted to your hotel. Following lunch, you will enjoy a trip to the home and farm of the famous author of Out of Africa, Karen Blixen. Afterwards, proceed to the Giraffe Center, where you will have an opportunity to hand feed the Rothschild Giraffes. Tonight, you may have dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. (L, D)

Day 4: Mount Kenya / Aberdares
Today you will embark on an early morning drive north to the slopes of Mount Kenya. Check into your rustic treetop lodge, which overlooks a water hole and provides excellent and safe opportunities for viewing animals. This afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk in the Mount Kenya Forest. For further game viewing, venture into the lodge’s unique viewing tunnel that takes visitors within meters of the waterhole. Day 5: Samburu
Continue with your safari adventure as you drive north with a stop at the famous signpost at the Equator to take memorable photographs as you cross from the Southern into the Northern hemisphere. Arrive at the Samburu Reserve, famous for the rare and unusual reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk, Colobus monkey, beisa oryx and Grevy’s zebra, some of which you may spot during your late afternoon game drive. The following day, explore the beauty and ruggedness of this game park on your game viewing drives.

Day 6: Samburu
Continue to explore the beauty and ruggedness of this semi-arid game park as you embark on morning and afternoon game drives in search of the rare and unique animals that inhabit this park. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Sweetwaters
This morning drive to Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Set in the heart of a large privately owned game reserve, this property offers magnificent views across the plains to the peaks of Mountain Kenya. Each tented accommodation has a private verandah. Located in the quaint, original farmhouse are the dining room, bar and reception. (BLD)

Day 8: Sweetwaters
Continue to enjoy the seclusion offered by your stay at Sweetwaters, one of four private game reserves in Kenya. Enjoy further game viewing opportunities as well as a visit to the Chimpanzee sanctuary and information center. (B, L, D)

Day 9: Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, board your safari cruiser and drive through Aberdares Mountain range and the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, once described by American ornithologist Roger Tory-Peterson as “the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world.” The park and its lake are host to lesser flamingos and various species of animals including lion, leopard, rhino and hyena. Enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive along the beautiful lakeshore. (B, L, D)

Day 10: Masai Mara
Today continue your safari adventure into the magnificent Masai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and a late afternoon game viewing drive. (B, L, D)

Day 11: Masai Mara
This morning take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the hippo pool. Enjoy watching these massive animals interact with one another as they lounge about in the water. Afterwards, return to the lodge and enjoy the remainder of the morning at leisure before lunch. This evening, enjoy a late afternoon game drive while the animals are just beginning to stir from their naps in the intense afternoon sun. Dusk is also the best time to spot a leopard as it leaves the comfort of the trees for its evening of hunting. (B, L, D)

Day 12: Masai Mara
Enjoy another day of morning and late afternoon game drives. Spend your afternoon relaxing at the hotel grounds and recounting your various animal encounters. (B, L, D)

Day 13: Nairobi – Late night flight home
Breakfast at leisure is followed by your flight to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be brought to your hotel, where you’ll have a leisurely afternoon and a chance to freshen up. After an early dinner you will be transferred to the airport for your late night flight back to the USA with a lifetime of memories! (B, L, D)
