This morning, after leisure breakfast, meet your private guide and driver for a full day tour of charming lake towns Bled and Bohinj.

We suggest a visit to the lake and a boat ride to the Virgin Mary Baroque Church, which stands in the middle of the island. The lake was formed after the recession of the Bohinj glacier. After the last Ice Age, the Bohinj glacier deepened the natural tectonic hollow and gave into its present form. Some hundred steps lead from the island’s dock to the church, which is a popular wedding destination. The tradition commands that the groom carries his bride up the steps and to the church to prove his fitness for marriage.

Proceed to the beautiful Bohinj region, which is divided into the Upper and Lower Bohinj Valley. There are twenty-four typical Alpine villages in these two valleys. In the Upper Valley by the lake, visit the gothic St. John the Baptist Church, which has well-preserved frescoes from the 15th and the 16th centuries. The journey continues with cable car ride to mountain Vogel (5000 ft), from where there is a wonderful view of the Lake Bohinj and the Julian Alps. Return to Bled through the Lower Valley.

The Postojna Cave has been attracting throngs of admirers from all over the world for over two centuries now. You will be able to visit this extraordinary cave and its curiosities with your guide and discover its unspoiled beauty. The Postojna Cave features an underground train, so you will be able to admire the sheer size and the powerful charm of its subterranean world, resplendent with huge stalactites and stalagmites forming some extraordinary shapes.

Next, following a short drive along a meandering mountain road, you will visit the scenic Predjama Castle – a true masterpiece of medieval architecture. The castle was built under a natural rock arch high up a limestone cliff overlooking the valley. The first castle was actually a small fortress deep inside the cave to make it more inaccessible and easily defended. Over the centuries, the original Gothic castle was redesigned and reshaped many times, gradually moving away from the cave. The present castle was thus called Predjama, meaning ‘in front of the cave’.

Your first port of call will be Milna on island Brac. We stop in one of Milna’s hidden bays for swimming and snorkeling (gear is included), so you can explore the underwater world while taking a break. Milna is a small 16th c. village located on the western part of the island of Brac. It is famous for its marvelous bay, the birthplace of many of the worlds’ sailing captains and ships of the 18th and 19th century!

In the afternoon, we shall continue to the island of Hvar, the only Croatian island listed among the top 10 islands in the world!!! The sunny days, the surrounding crystal blue waters with nearby seductive islands, ancient villages, innumerable lavender fields, olive plantations and vineyards, enchanting stone streets and old Venetian palaces of the proud town of Hvar, are some of the reasons why everybody today is talking about Hvar! We spend a night on the boat, anchored in Hvar harbor. The well-known Hvar summer nightlife awaits you!

Day 10: SAILING HVAR – BISEVO – KOMIZA (ISLAND VIS)

After indulging yourself in local wine, cocktails or just coffee, we leave the town of Hvar in the morning and sail off to the Pakleni islands archipelago, a labyrinth of several smaller islands that offer perfect bays for swimming and snorkeling.

Then we continue towards the small island of Bisevo. Its area is 5.8 km, and it has only 19 inhabitants. The island has several caves, the most famous being the “Blue Cave”, which is accessible since 1884, and only by boat. It is 18 meters long, 6 meters deep and 6 meters high. The cave’s entrance is only 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide. Around 10am to 1pm, the sunbeams that penetrate through the submarine opening in the Blue Cave reflect from the white bottom floor and color the cave in blue, and objects in the water in silver. The sight is magical. After visiting the cave we will sail to one of the bays for swimming. If the weather suits us, we might even visit the Green Cave, with a similar effect to the Blue Cave except in green!

We arrive during late afternoon in Komiza on the island of Vis, and spend the night there. Vis is the most utterly lying larger Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. Its turbulent history goes back to the time of Neolithics, through the Greek period to the time when Venice was governing the island. After the 2nd WW it was closed to the public, due to its use as a military base for the Yugoslav army. After Croatia’s independence, Vis today is an island proud of its limpid waters and protected submarine world, rich with sunken ships and magic marine images that have been hidden for years.

Day 11: SAILING KOMIZA (VIS ISLAND) – KORCULA ISLAND

Komiza is one of the most picturesque towns in Dalmatia and a harbor on the western coast of the island of Vis in the Adriatic Sea; population 1,677. It is famous for it’s fishermen (fishermen from Komiza are also known in San Pedro, California), so that fish and other seafood are traditionally served fresh daily.

We sail out from Komiza towards the island of Korcula. After stopping in beautiful bays for a swim, we arrive in Korcula. The island of Korcula belongs to the central Dalmatian archipelago, separated from the Peljesac peninsula by a narrow strait of Peljesac. It is the sixth largest Adriatic island and second most populated island in Croatia, with 16,180 inhabitants. Korcula town is the main town on the island, famous for its medieval walls and a succession of narrow streets that branch off the spine of the main street like a fish bone, a shape that was used to reduce the effects of wind and sun, and provide citizens with sheltered and comfortable accommodation.

The architecture of the Old Town is mainly influenced by Venetian Renaissance. A place well worth seeing also is the splendid St Mark’s Cathedral built in the Gothic-Renaissance style, completed in 15th century and Marko Polo’s alleged house of birth.

Day 12: SAILING KORCULA ISLAND – PELJESAC PENINSULA; CONTINUING VIA PRIVATE LAND TRANSFER TO DUBROVNIK

Pelješac is part of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and is the second largest peninsula in Croatia. In a small harbor on Peljesac, you will be awaited by your driver to transfer you to Dubrovnik. However, first you will have a stop in Ponikve, a tiny village on Peljesac peninsula where you will have a private wine tasting.

When you need the breath of sea and stone, the taste of top-class wine, softness of olives poured into golden olive oil... When you long for moments in which all the senses enjoy, you are at the right place. The Illyrian tribe of Plarei settled this area and while longing for perfection they have worked hard on the poor soil, rich only with stone and sunshine... Vukas’s forefathers continued realizing this longing; they started growing the wine sort PLAVAC MALI on the inaccessible grounds of the Crnjova hill steep slopes.

Keeping long tradition and improving new technologies, Mr. Vukas has created top-class products which you will have the opportunity to taste.

Day 14: FULL DAY PRIVATE TOUR TO MOSTAR

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the former Yugoslavian countries, a country where east meets west, combining the best of both civilizations.

Driving along the coast with a beautiful view of the Elafiti island group. After one hour of driving a short stop will be made in Neum. Continuing the drive along the Adriatic coast allows one to see the biggest valley in these south parts of Croatia – the valley of Neretva river.

Past the border in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and before reaching Mostar, a stop will be made in Pocitelj for a photo break.

Pocitelj (15th century) is a typical small oriental settlement. Fort on the cliff above the town was built by the Catholics in order to protect the village from the ottomans, but ottomans occupied it the middle of the 15th century. It used to be an important stop for the caravans.

Upon arrival to Mostar a local guide will greet and start the sightseeing tour, tell you more about history of Mostar, its architecture and culture, and show the highlights of that beautiful town.

MOSTAR is a centre of Herzegovina, known for the old bridge built in the 15th century, but destroyed during the last Balkan war in 1993. This symbol of the town was later rebuilt in 2004 in the same form and from the same kind of stone; it is on the UNESCOs list of Worlds Heritage from July 2005.

The town is situated on the coasts of river Neretva and was always famous for a lot of bridges. Soldiers who were protecting the bridges were called “Mostari” and the town was named after them.

From the 15th ct it is under the ottoman government and that’s the reason why in the town you can find a lot of mosques, typical “Turkish” houses, a bazaar and narrow allies.
