Detailed Description

The aroma of freshly brewed mint tea permeates the air both morning and evening. Seafood caught fresh that morning is displayed in the marketplace; mounds of spices look like an assortment of exotic rainbows. On your trip to Morocco, you will find elegant flavors and the bright, eclectic collection of tastes that has brought fame to the country’s cuisine. Whether you choose the 9-day or 13-day tour, you will gain insight into the full breadth of Moroccan gastronomy.

The flavorful adventure begins with your arrival in Casablanca. The city holds onto its contemporary history, modeled with homage to tradition and your first dinner will be an affair to remember.  Next day, your private transfer will meet you after breakfast and bring you inland to an Argan cooperative. Tour the orchard and witness the cultivation of the trees up to the production of Argan Oil. Continue to the whitewashed walls of the seaside city of Essaouira. Wake up early and venture out onto the Atlantic with a local fisherman.

Enjoy the calm ocean air before the morning fish market. Follow your guide through the narrow winding lanes of the historic city with Philistine roots. Your private transfer will meet you at the hotel, and take you to a French vineyard located in the heart of Morocco en route to Marrakech. After a tour of the winery and a sample of the wines, arrive inside the historic red walls of Marrakech’s medina. Experience the city on horseback, venturing through the narrow lanes of the medina before yet another delicious meal.

In the Atlas Mountains, spend the day exploring the high altitude plains and stunning Berber villages known for their exemplary couscous. Return to Marrakech in the evening and delight in the plentiful offerings of vendors around Djemaa el Fna Square. Make your way through Marrakech in the earlier half of the day to see the splendid gardens. Your private guide and chef take you through the marketplace to buy local ingredients before your cooking course. The following day, traverse the mountain pass and find the breathtaking Sahara Dessert at your feet.

The sprawling sand dunes offer a remarkable place to taste saffron tea and sit beneath the stars. Travel along the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs to walk the small, clay-addled streets of Aït ben Haddou. Arrive in Ouarzazate and explore the iconic city built from the desert. Catch your return flight to Casablanca early in the morning where you will continue home. If you choose to continue your enriching gastronomy discovery tour, take time in Casablanca to tour Hassan II Mosque before making your way to the imperial city of Fes.

Meet your guide at the hotel for a walk around the old city walls and the medieval history of the cityscape. Later in the day, meet your chef for a tour of the kitchen, before being taught the treasured deserts of Morocco and the heritage that accompanies each dish. The next day, have another tour of the city, visiting the sites you didn’t have the time to see the day before, such as the royal palace and Jewish quarter. Then return to Casablanca for your flight the following day.
