Elena's Review

What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?

The trip was terrific. We went to Rome and some wonderful towns in Tuscany, had great food, interesting activities, good hotels and guides. This Italy tour company did an excellent job of making arrangements, keeping in touch with us, suggesting activities and places, lining up really good guides for us in several places, even getting us an upgrade or two in hotels. Daniela, our contact person, was great; she phoned and emailed us several times before departure, sent us vouchers and itineraries for each day, and followed up after the trip. The only problem with the trip was some bad weather and big crowds in some sites -- not the fault of the Italy travel company.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Daniela arranged for a private cooking lesson and meal at a wonderful restaurant in Chianti, where we had a great time and great food. We also had fun doing a private winery tour in Brunello di Montalcino. She suggested visiting a Franciscan monastery in the mountains, something we would not have thought of, and it was peaceful and lovely. We loved some of the less-traveled towns: Volterra, Lucca, Cortona.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I would simplify the itinerary slightly, probably staying in no more than 3 places and leaving a little more unstructured time to explore on our own. (We stayed in 4 different cities in 11 days, with guides and activities lined up for each day.)
