The trip was absolutely wonderful. It was most helpful to work with someone who was able to plan a truly customized trip around everything we wanted to do. Daniela, our Italy travel agent, was charming, accommodating, very knowledgable about schedules, ect. for the events on the trip. All of the transportation arrangements were impeccable and the drivers were friendly and prompt. The hotels were lovely and a great mix of traditional European accommodations and the more modern Italian style. The tour guides were excellent and the tours were very enjoyable.
We enjoyed all of the more structured activities like the tours and museum outings but the best times we had were just wandering the streets in Italy and stopping in the shops, restaurants and bars to enjoy our time there. Walking back to the hotel after a late dinner through the quiet and less crowded streets and piazzas was very magical. I like to see the cities without all the tourists and merchants selling their wares from kiosks. You get the true views of the buildings and sculptures as they are meant to be seen.
We would definitely stay in a more centralized hotel in Florence. Everything else was perfect.
