Travel Review: Luxury Family Italy Vacation, Athens, Fourni, Samos, Santorini,...

Emily Z. (ezwaan)

Emily's Review

What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?

Constantine did a great job of putting our trip together. We requested to go to Fourni and Samos, neither of which are normal islands that Zicasso books. Even though the logistics of this trip were not easy, Kosta made every effort to make it happen. Our trip started in Athens where we were booked at a lovely, small hotel called the Athenian Callirhoe. A representative from Zicasso met us at the hotel and gave us all of our inter-island vouchers on the ferries and flights between the islands. All of the hotels that were booked were excellent in Athens, Fourni, Samos and Santorini.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

The most memorable part of the trip for us was our visit to the tiny island of Fourni. This island has yet to be invaded by mass tourism and retains the charm of old world Greece. The scenery is spectacular, the people friendly and the island is very affordable. The Archipelago Hotel was perfect. Very clean with spectacular views of the Aegean Sea--particularly from the rooms that are high on the hillside. It is well worth the effort to get to Fourni which was an easy ferry from Pireaus. My only regret is that we did not have more time to spend on this beautiful little gem in the Aegean Sea.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I would spend more time in Fourni and have less structure to give us more flexibility if ferries or airlines go on strike which seems to happen quite often though for brief periods everywhere in Greece. I also would spend more time in Santorini. I would also go no later than the first part of September because the ferry schedules and direct flights from USA to Greece are limited by the end of September.
