Travel Review: Customized Adventure Tour to New Zealand

Christopher H. (huynhc)

Christopher's Review

What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?

This New Zealand travel agench is a terrific company to work with. Followup calls regarding any questions I had were answered in a timely and professional manner. Although I wanted a rather loaded agenda, the agent was able to ensure I was able to do all activities without feeling rushed or have any other time limitations.
The trip was pretty much exactly what I wanted out of New Zealand in terms of mixture of exciting adventurous outdoor activities as well as a blend of not-so exciting sightseeing. I think the quality of the tour operators and hotels chosen by the agent was on par with my expectations and needs. Very informative, educational, and FUN trip!

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

I had a great time doing the many exciting and not-so-exciting (albeit still breath-taking) things NZ had to offer. Everything went without a hitch except for a travel voucher having our destination at another hotel (but nothing a quick call to the local tour office didn't fix). I was able to cram so much into the trip and still have a few days off to enjoy at my leisure. The awesome foursome in Queenstown was the ultimate package and was great fun and value. Those AJ Hackett guys sure know how to run a bungy company. Falling those 400-some ft was an experience like no other. The gratification of overcoming that was second to none. I thought having the skydive the day before my bungy would relieve my fear of the Nevis...it didn't. But Nevis was the most rewarding thing I had done in a LONG time. Nothing like being scared out of your mind and then having a chance to conquer it and still have a whole day of excitement left!

As for the skydive, the fellas at nzone were great and really personable, making my first skydive an absolutely awesome experience. My father had a great time doing the helicopter flight while at Fox Glacier and was lucky he had a good break in the weather later that morning before flights were again canceled in the afternoon. I can't thank you enough for the great time and planning. Even with all of those tours planned, some back to back, timing was impeccable and I never felt rushed for my next pickup. Thanks so much for all those memories and the great time in New Zealand!

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

By all means this is all hindsight. I wanted to spend time in the cities and smaller towns of New Zealand. However, after seeing the country, I would definitely have spent less time in Auckland. Although it is an amazing city in its own right, I felt the rest of New Zealand had much more to offer. I felt the natural outdoor activities, and not a big city atmosphere, were what made my trip. As stated, I do not believe this was the agent's fault by any means, it was just something I realized once I was on the trip.
