Travel Review: Custom-made Family Vacation to the UK

Michele's Review
I thought this United Kingdom travel agency did a terrific job of communicating and lining up the tickets and transportation for the events we requested. John was extremely accessible so that if we did have a question, concern or issue he was readily available by phone and was eager to help. I would say that the only thing that kept me from giving this travel agency the 5 star rating is that perhaps they didn't anticipate or ask enough questions about our knowledge of certain things. For example, there was some confusion regarding the train. We thought we had reserved seats on the train but learned upon getting at the train station that it was first available seating. There were first class seats available for reservation but we didn't know to ask for that and PT didn't ask us if we would prefer that option. We were traveling with 3 children and lots of luggage and were foreigners to the city so we would have much preferred having reserved seats! Fortunately we arrived early enough and had a lot of help from a gentleman working at the train station to get good seats for the 3 1/2 hour ride! We were also given an extremely small room at our London hotel which, thankfully, we upgraded with no problem. If we had to stay in that room it would have been a bit stressful! It was so small you had to sit on the bed to open the closet door! And we had 3 suitcases and no drawers! Those are 2 examples of instances that perhaps the travel agent could have anticipated our needs a bit better.
The most enjoyable parts were our day at Royal Ascot horse races, our day at Oxford and visiting a deer farm in Scotland. We also loved our stay at Bovey Castle where we golfed, went fly fishing, played badminton, tried archery and shooting. The kids preferred activities they could participate in rather than just see and hear about. They also really liked our Scottish guide, Norrie.
We would have spent less of our time in London and more time in Scotland or perhaps Windsor.
