Custom African Safari: Botswana, Namibia, South Africa - Etosha National Park, Kruger National Park

Claudia D. (claudiadebus)

Claudia's Review

What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?

This African safari tour operator did an excellent job in listening to what we wanted and helping us plan our trip. Alana is extremely knowledgeable about southern Africa and gave us great advice. We've taken many interesting and exotic trips over the years, but both agree, this was the best trip EVER!

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Without a doubt, it was seeing the wild animals so close up! We had no idea this was possible. At one point, an elephant had his rump practically in our jeep, and at another, a lion actually brushed the legs of our tracker, who sat in a seat on the front bumper of the jeep, as she walked right by our vehicle. Also, having the chance to see so many baby animals (lions, hyenas and elephants) playing right nrext to us was a real thrill. But everything about it was great. Meeting and sharing experiences with people from all over the world at the game lodges was wonderful, and much of the scenery was stunningly beautiful.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

We would plan more time for Etosha National Park in Namibia and would plan several days to a week in Kruger Park proper. We only got to the outskirts. My husband and I differ on the rest. I really enjoyed being in the area where the Himba people live, but could have left out the rest of Namibia in favor of more safari time (as I said, in Etosha and Kruger). He really liked our self drive through Namibia. I don't think the trip to the Himba village was worth the money we paid. I felt very unwelcome, and we had much better interactions with these people on our own

Also, we'd make sure to bring much better road maps.
