Description

INTRODUCTION TO GBC

Global Basecamps is a next generation resource for booking the world’s most unique hotels, lodges and multi-day excursions. By categorizing our product by environment type and focusing on green and sustainable lodging and tours, Global Basecamps gives the discerning independent traveler all of the tools necessary to create completely customized ground itineraries that maximize experience while minimizing impact. Global Basecamps believes that a successful business, especially in the travel industry, is dependent on a healthy environment, both globally and locally. We believe that corporate growth and corporate responsibility are two sides of the same coin and that capitalism and conservation are not mutually exclusive. To this end, we have committed not only to offset all of our corporate greenhouse gas emissions but also have worked to create ways that our clients can contribute on every trip they take. We also support like-minded organizations through our product choices and partnerships and support the work of international conservation and poverty alleviation organizations to lessen the impact of tourism and development in the regions we work.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that the best trips involve multiple stops, multiple environments and multiple experiences. Although we no longer live out of our backpacks for six months at a stretch (although we'd like to) we've found a way to recreate the excitement and sense of discovery in a shorter period of time: it's called basecamping. The key is to find the right people to help. In our case, we've scoured the planet to find the hotels and lodges that can help pack as many experiences into a couple of days as possible. Don't have enough time to circumnavigate Patagonia? Check out one of our lodges in Southern Argentina and after three days you'll feel like you had. This is what defines a basecamp to us: a property that truly helps you to explore an area on short day trips. Got a little more time? There's no better way to check life experiences off of your list than by doing multi-day excursions…that's where the true adventure lies. Travel is about choices and every trip is unique. Without getting too scientific about it just break down the components of your trip into the things you love: beach, mountain, cooking, reading, train, animals…put them all together and you should have the perfect trip.

OUR MISSION

Global Basecamps is dedicated to inspiring, empowering and simplifying independent travel to the world's most beautiful and important destinations. We firmly believe that conservation and capitalism can work hand in hand to protect the planet's cultural and ecological resources and that independent travel furthers the exchange of the ideas, understanding and common heritage necessary to create positive change. .
