The city still maintains its authenticity and beauty. You can visit the churchs "Duomo, S.Fortunato and S.Maria della Consolazione". Take time to walk in the main square of the city from where you can enjoy a fantastic panorama of the Tiber valley. It is time to move to a wonderful wine cellar, an ancient farmhouse where you can enjoy your lunch. You will also taste Colli Martani and IGT wines.

After the lunch you will also have the possibility to visit the ancient cellar and the vineyard.

After that we suggest to you to take free time to walk in the green surrounding and visit the village of Casigliano. From here travel to Corbara Lake. This area is on the road to go to Orvieto and immediately you will have the taste of great wine production of this part of Umbria. Your stop will be in an ancient castle where you will taste Orvieto classic DOC, Red Umbria IGT, Lago di Corbara DOC. Back to hotel in late afternoon. This evening you can choose to enjoy our local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 2

After the wine tasting you will have your lunch in a recommended restaurant. Later, Orvieto really needs and accurate visit. The city exists in symbiosis with the tuff cliff on which it stands, and from which is dominating the valley. Experience the pretty walk in the garden surrounding the old walls of the city. In the centre of the city you can visit the famous Duomo, the ancient Palazzo del Capitano del popolo, and you can walk into the cobbled streets and shop for souvenirs. If you like we can organize you a visit of the underground city.(on request) Back to hotel in late afternoon. This evening you can choose to enjoy our local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 3

After breakfast you will travel to Montefalco.

Take time to enjoy your cappuccino in the centre of this fantastic village, named ""la ringhiera dell'Umbria" which means "the balcony of Umbria". Montefalco is a majestic hilltown in central Umbria, which can be found on the eastern side of the Colli Martani around 7 km southeast of Bevagna, 11 km southwest of Foligno, and 9 km northwest of Trevi. Take your time to visit Montefalco. Some of the most popular medieval churches you will find in the city include Saint Agostino, Saint Chiara, Saint Illuminata, Saint Maria Maddalena, and Saint Francesco. Scattered among the churches you will find other small buildings such as the old town hall. The major tourist attraction in Montefalco is the museum inside the Saint Francesco Church. Later you will move to one of the most famous cellar of the city where you will taste the famous "Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG" and some other wines from the selection like Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito DOCG, Rosso di Montefalco DOC. Visiting this area you will be surprised by the passion of the people for the Sagrantino grape: they feel it almost sacred. After the lunch in a recommended restaurant travel to Bevagna. This cosy and intimate village still maintains both the rest of the roman and the middle ages periods. It's worth a visit the central square and the walk on the surrounding city walls ( I century a.C.). Back to hotel in late afternoon. This evening you can choose to enjoy our local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 4

After your breakfast we suggest you to travel to Torgiano.

The town, which retains a typical medieval appearance, preserves remains of the ancient walls and an imponent tower, become with the passing of time, the symbol of the town. In the centre we can see two interesting religious buildings: the Church of S.Maria nel Castello and the Church of Madonna dell'Ulivello, with valuable paintings of 16th and 17th century. Among the fine Baroque palaces we can admire the imponent Graziani-Baglioni Palace, where the famous Wine Museum has been located: a valuable collection showing ancient and modern objects, manuscripts, texts and engravings telling us the millennial story of wine. Few minutes walk from the museum you can visit a wonderful cellar where to taste : Torgiano DOC, Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG. In the afternoon we do suggest to you not to miss Deruta. In this delicious village you will find plenty of small shops where to see and buy the traditional pottery and ceramics of the area. Back to hotel in late afternoon. This evening you can choose to enjoy our local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 5

After the breakfast travel to Assisi, home of St.Francis.

Assisi in Italy stretches out on the slopes of the Monte Subasio, above the plain where the Topino and Chiascio rivers flow. Although it can boast Roman origins, its present-day appearance, because of the buildings and also the urban structure, is surely due to the city's development during the Middle Ages.Assisi's oldest nucleus, which is protected by a defensive apparatus made up of eight fortified entrance portals and a long belt of town walls, which are still perfectly preserved, is topped by two castles on peak of the mountain: the Major Castle, reconstructed by the Cardinal Albornoz in 1367 and the Minor Castle. Apart from religious buildings too important to not be considered solely the heritage of Assisi such as the basilica of St. Francis, the tourist can also visit the churches of St. Clare and St.Peter. After the visit of the city we drive you to the cellar for your lunch and wine tasting. The wine selection of the area includes delicate wine wines and deep purple red wines. After the lunch if have time and strengths left, finish your tour going to Spello, for a short walk in one of the most characteristic and authentic village of this area. Back to hotel in late afternoon. This evening you can choose to enjoy our local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 6

It is time to visit the major city of Umbria: Perugia.

Perugia, the great "Guelf strong-hold" rises up in the region's heart, with its 5 storical quarters closed-in by its Etruscan town walls. These enormous bastions formed by cyclopic square masses, were constructed 22 centuries ago and are still visible for long stretches. Walking in the narrow street of the centre of the city you will meet one of Italy's most important squares, where you'll see the Priors'Palace, the Cathedral and the 13th century fountain Major Fountain at the center. These monuments render the Piazza Grande of Perugia (now called Piazza IV Novembre) a superb architectural complex. At the extreme end of Corso Vannucci you'll find famous panoramic gardens built on the foundations of the Rocca Paolina, a strong-hold built by Pope Paul III in 1540. Have your time to visit the city and to make your shopping and late in the afternoon, before you go back to your location, make a stop just out of the city to have your wine tasting to one of our recommended cellar.

After the tasting back to the hotel. Dinner to our recommended local trattoria or feel free to make your choice.

DAY 7

It is time to prepare your luggages! But before your departure you can not miss to visit Spoleto.

The Arch of Drusus (23 A.C.) to be found near the Romanic church of St. Ansano , the Roman theater, whose construction goes back to the first years of the Empire, and the paleocristian basilica St. Salvatore of the 4th century (at about 1.2 km's distance to the north), are testimonials of Spoleto's earliest origins. Close by, the church St.Gregorio Maggiore,(12th century), characterized by its evocative apsis zone and by the elevated presbitery, a Roman bridge (also called "the Bloody") consisting of three arches in travertine stone blocks and the amphitheater of the 2nd century A.C. can be found. More modern monuments which are as fascinating are the churches of St. Dominic and St. Ponziano, both of which were built during the 12th century. The church of St. Peter is surely of great interest because of its extraordinary bas-reliefs which decorate the facade which dates back to the 12th century.

You can enjoy your lunch while visiting the city and then in the afternoon move to Fonti del Clitunno. "I've just been there and I regret not to have come earlier". Those are the words of Pliny the Younger and his advice is still valid nowadays. The reorganization of the Fonti del Clitunno as they appear today can be attributed to the scrupulous work of Paolo Campello della Spina, who between 1860 and 1865 cleared away the soil in order to create the space for the small lake and he also planted all the vegetation that today characterizes the Fonti del Clitunno: a few years later, Giosue Carducci wrote the ode Barbara To the Fonti del Clitunno. Today, an engraving of the sculptor Leonardo Bistolfi from Turin documents the visit of the poet, with an inscription by Ugo Ojetti on it. Only few years before, George Byron in his pilgrimage through Italy, passed by the shores of the Clitunno and left a tangible trace of his poetical inspiration. And also during the time of August the emperor, Virgil, the imperial poet par excellence, reported the curious legend of the ox that after diving into the river turned even more pure. A legend that is related to the god Clitunno, a divinity with roots into the pre-roman religions and that may have autochthonous origins. What is certain is that it has been celebrated during imperial times and there is proof of the Emperor Caligola's presence: he frequented the "clitunnali", holidays in honor of the God taking place in spring.

It is time to leave, .......Back home : Buon viaggio!
